  • 26 x 1 3/8" tyres, this figure just refers to the 590mm rim diameter right? The width could be anything? A lot of website seem to list this as one of the iterations of 26" tyre size e.g this
    The 26 x 1 3/8" option should also show a width right?

  • I'd get a decent speaker and a separate Bluetooth receiver to plug into your HiFi. You can get decent ones for £20-25 or so.

  • Hifi - loud and good sound, but wouldn't mind being able to play music off my phone so I can lay lazily on the sofa listening to music from my phone without having to get up to change music.

Portable but decent Bluetooth speaker - can take with me to the garage, kitchen, garden, holiday...

  • Juice SoundSquare scores high on portability, works well for background music in quiet places. Don't expect it to drown out the power tools in the garage/kitchen/garden.

  • Thinking more something like this pioneer, not super portable like that but chargeable and moveable...

  • Depending on your budget, Bluetooth Minirig is very good http://www.amazon.co.uk/MINIRIG-Portable-Rechargeable-Bluetooth-Speaker/dp/B00TYFWOG0

Will have a good stab at drowning out power tools in the garage/kitchen/garden when turned right up.

Doesn't have an aux out though

  • WoW

Budget is max £60, sorry should have said.

Who would pay £140 for a baby speaker?!

Thinking about it, my mate has a pair and a woofer, they are alreet, but yeah...

  • I have one as I travel a lot. If you're going to spend weeks in hotel rooms then you want something that sounds decent and can survive being bounced around in a suitcase.

  • Cheers @Sifta and @farewell I ended up going to the Met. Interesting but possibly too much there, fatigue was setting in as I saw the 1,000th piece of pottery but some good stuff in there.

Not heard of the Frick collection before. May have a wander there next time I'm in NY.

  • where can i get maxxis refuse 28s?

  • thank u internet

  • I thought the one on the corner of Peckham Road and Southampton way had one, but I might be wrong as I can't see it on google streetview.

  • How would I know if a seatpost is suitable for a carbon-railed saddle? What are the characteristics I should look for?

  • Why are maxxis refuse so hard to get? I have one on the front wheel of my everyday and I love it, will replace my back tyre with one when it needs doing.

  • You could try Chromecast Audio. Ticks the hifi box at a very good price. Then get a Bluetooth speaker of your choosing, or even some other portable speaker w. a line-in and get another Chromecast Audio?

  • Why are maxxis refuse so hard to get?

Did you not see the link I posted?

  • 23 and 25c are both in stock at the UK distributor...

  • How would I know if a seatpost is suitable for a carbon-railed saddle? What are the characteristics I should look for?

Depends which carbon rails. 7mm round ones fit most seat posts, some people suggest you should avoid short rail clamps, excessive overhang and sharp edges, but you should already be avoiding those things regardless of rail material. Many carbon rails are oval 7mm×9mm, which will be fine with some clamp designs but either need special clamping parts or won't work at all with others.

  • Shops often don't show the width for that iteration, though Schwalbe says that one is 37mm. I have some very nice Col De La Vies in that size that say 26x1 1/2 to fit rim 26x1 3/8. I would let them go for a song (2 new 2 used in good shape) but you couldn't afford the shipping.

  • Thanks - I believe they're 7x9 oval rails (it's a specialized romin saddle). Would you be able to elaborate on the clamp characteristics that suit these rails?

  • Would you be able to elaborate on the clamp characteristics that suit these rails?

If the clamping bolt(s) move(s) the two halves of the clamp together along an axis orthogonal to a plane bisecting both rails, you might not need new clamping parts. Anything else and you almost certainly will. Which post are you using/planning to use?

  • Avoid 3T posts, even with the oval rail kit. They don't seem to fit well, and you need to take a dremel to the rail clamp for it to work.
