Y'know they're the same right? Only difference is the cover.

I did not know that, no.

I use a SMP Pro and Lite 209...both very similar.
Tried an Oura, but the flat shape doesn't suit me (I can roll forward quite a bit and perhaps I have roundish hip bones from the side)...so back on SMPs.
Really a miracle cure if all else fails ^_^

I have to ask, why do you seemed to keep trying out various saddle and going back to the SMP?
-
• #631
ooooh cheers for that

Cos they look like Dali designed a saddle while under the influence of LSD and cost quite a bit :)

ten points for jwesty! yes, sorry to say @edscoble i've tried 14 saddles and the SMP was The One but it's hideous. however - i'm over it now and soon as i sell the saddle i have now, i'm getting the SMP. hooray! my search is officially over after about 3 years.
so:
i'm selling my very new and virtually unused Specialized Power Pro - lovely and highly-regarded saddle but not right for me i'm afraid. this is one of Specialized's newest saddles and is pretty much unisex. i've heard nothing but good reviews of it.
it looks like this:
and comes with all the original packaging. RRP is £150, i'm selling for £130. can happily post for an extra couple of quid.

You have no disagreement from me that the SMP is truly ugly (the expensive skinny one is not too bad), I totally emphasised with your feeling of finding the one after many years too.
The bonus is the SMP is not limited to gender as @kati notice (she and I use exactly the same non-padded SMP Composit).

Looking for some advice for my girlfriend who has just got into road cycling and is now doing 4 hour plus rides ( with a goal of the Dun run this year).
We've just installed a 155mm specialized lithia but after a long ride today it doesn't sound great. Lots of pain and it sounds to me that it's too narrow - she says it isn't taking the weight in the right place -upper inner thigh, rather than sit bone. She's done the "ass-o-meter" and it said 155... Time to go up to 168? Or look at a different model?

It could be too narrow as that's issue I had with selle SMP lite 209 and a pro fits me better.
I had a spez 155 but it rubbed on my legs. Wide enough but sore for that reason.
The easiest test might be to sit upright on the tops and try to gauge if sitbones are in a good spot. If they're at the outer edge and not really fitting it might just be too narrow.
Or the nose is too wide / the wrong shape cos saddles are like Marmite °-°
I highly rate selle SMP they are hard to find somewhere to loan though.

Cheers, will be installing an Oura in 155 tonight to see how that goes!

"ass-o-meter"
Did you use the corrguated cardboard method at home or something more clever?
Want to try it for my OH. Thanks -

used a sheet of foil on a towel, but it was wildly imprecise! Several different results. In the end my OH went into a cycle surgery and used the official one.
Since fitting the Oura she's been much happier.

Anyone need this Brooks?

For what it's worth, I don't get on with foam "pillow" saddles usually, the SQlabs 621 seems to work OK for me.
I couldn't go touring 50 miles a day on a rental bike on it, as it's TOO soft and started to cut blood flow after a while, but for shorter rides it gives no pressure on areas that should not have any. So if you can't get on with Brooks or Selle Italia "pillows" maybe it's worth a look.

I just found out SMP does a "pillow" called the SMP Martin: They didn't have it in the biek shop in NL (the TRK does not work on upright bikes...blue sitbones after 80 miles) I would recommend that instead for Dutch bicycles.
In other news The Plus is nice too if you fit an SMP Pro and more padded.

Building a bike for the girlfriend and need some saddle advice. At the moment shes got a very flat saddle, kind of fizik shape and complains of pain in the usual bits.
She's only ever going to ride to work and back which is 30 minutes each way tops, and maybe a couple of casual riverside rides when the warm weather comes back. So do I go for more squishy since it will be more comfortable on shorter rides? She'll not be wearing padded shorts or anything.
Any recommendations for a saddle that's suitably squishy and with a cut out that doesn't cost the earth or can be found on ebay?
Thanks ladies -

Anyone in the market for a new saddle? I'm selling a Specialized Power pro saddle with Carbon fibre shell and titanium rails. It's the 155mm version. Only selling as I have two 143mm versions as I get on with that width better.
I've ridden the saddle in races and on long rides and the shape and cut-out means it's comfy without needing to be really padded. It looks mean on a bike too.
Pics on request, well looked after, asking for £80. they retail for £150-175.

you want one more 143mm?
There's a second hand Women's SMP over on a facebook group I follow today, thought it might be of interest over here.
