may not be a faux pas per se, but looks (and probably works due to less bends) ten times better
-
• #378
Is that a faux pas?
Nah. Period correct imo.

Pengy!

I don't think Dammit can manage a behind-the-bar bend for the rear brake routing... best keep 'em both in front for neatness' sake.
-
• #381
I can give it a go, but yes - my rear brake cable enters the head tube quite a lot lower down than the along-the-top-of-the-toptube routing.

• #382
true.. then I guess aero levers should do the trick
-
• #383
;)
-
• #384
Here is an example of the low routing with regular braze ons
Yours is more tricky though.

Front brake cable just needs trimming a little, I reckon.
-
• #387
Apart from that, fine :-)

• #388
Right lever front brake left lever rear brake routing is a bit awkward non aero.
Raleigh is other way around so is tidier.Aero will tidy things up visually. -
• #389
that's an acute cable entry angle, so the frame was probably built to expect aero routing

Well there is one set of NOS 6403 levers on eBay right now, ~£76 plus delivery from Greece.
-
• #391
Aren't the once you've got designed to take both?
-
• #392
6401 (what I have) are non-aero, and were the first in the series, the 6403's are the aero ones and came a few years (?) after the 6401's, possibly to upgrade the Ultegra/600 group to match the look of the contemporary Dura Ace 7400.

Struggling with the $27.00 for shipping tbh: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121811677306?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT#shpCntId

Really strange, as these are also 6401:
http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx?ID=3180b43a-50da-4666-a719-34c44b0d2d4b&Enum=118I had a pair (may still have them) that are also non aero. 6403 was shimano600, 6401 was tricolore.
-
• #395
I had wondered at that - I have 6403 brakes, with the tricolour label, but the 6403 levers don't have it (whilst the 6401's do).

$72 dollars, and on the way to casa Dammit.
EDIT this link might be better http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281841200961

Also: I was wrong, 6401 came in both aero and non-aero forms, it would appear. Who knew?

These would looks cool: https://lfgss.microcosm.app/api/v1/files/b2edb27777266a1cb5255aac5dcc0781cc1e4488.JPG

Oh. That Fizik tape. Yeah - it's fat and unless you give it some beans it doesn't wrap well.
Nice once its on right though.

except dammit has not chosen 105 groupset, no, 600, or 6401 to be exact. however it's easy to overlook that tiny detail as it has hardly been mentioned more than 100 times in this thread...
