  • @tenderloin sharing is caring!

  • Don't worry about it - you'll be fine and dandy.

    Enjoy NYC.

  • Wragby Road - it's a bit in the middle in terms of transport but I quite like the street

  • Looked out house prices outside M25 in Surrey/West Sussex/ Berkshire area. Don't get much more than in london!

  • Aye. I'm originally from Horsham and the prices there are no different to South London once a season ticket is taken into to consideration.

  • Yeah crazy. Knew Surrey wasn't 'cheap' but was a little shocked.
Need to move somewhere out the M25 with train connection and a garage.
Going to be hard finding somewhere reasonably priced!

  • lines starting with a 'greater than' denote quoted text

Surrey my ass. Brentwood should kill anything that is still posh in you. Good riding there. And there is going to be Crossrail.

  • I think Herts/Essex is nicer than Surrey or Kent. None of the proper commuter belt is cheap though.

  • Yeah. I'd move to Essex (grew up there, love to ride there), but need to get to guilford. And not commuting around the M25 each day.

  • Ah I see. Read it as a "need to get out of London" thing.

  • Yeah. You read right. I forgot to include that condition.

  • @Skinny try Dorking/Redhill

  • Hurst Green in Surrey has good train connections to London and is just outside the M25, not that easy to get across to Guildford by public transport though. Apparently the prices drop around Liphook and now the tunnel is in place that's a fairly short trip to Guildford. Not Surrey though.

  • buys property in Upminster

  • Bicycle/motorbike So don't need public transport to Guilford. Thanks for suggestion! Will check out.

  • You could potentially live in the South Downs national park and ride ~20 miles to Guildford.

  • See you on the Motorcycle Appreciation Thread

  • In that case @Skinny, look at Midhurst-Petworth villages in rural south downs! Beautiful roads and hills all around there.

EDIT: Neil has beaten me to it.

  • Just re-using this template from @mands

    Solicitor £900 inc conveyancing afaik
    Conveyancing - £0
    Broker £0
    Bank Valuation Fee - ?
    Lenders arrangement fee £
    Mortgage Account Fee £
    Land registry £135.00
    Searches - £300.00
    Independent Surveyer - Any reccos?
    Insurance (coz im freehold) £???00.00

Still some costs to flesh out. Cripes this starts to get expensive.... :'(

  • Giid suggestion.
    And thanks @Dammit

  • Yeah got tonpass mod2 first! See you there.

  • Here's some which caught me by surprise.
First mortgage payment, might be slightly more than normal because of timings.
Then bring on startup & cleanup costs - first stocking the pantry/fridge, cleaning products.
Tools, nails, fence post, silicon sealant, etc
    Finalizing bills from previous property.
    Goodbye £3k

  • We went from a flat to a house so it was the garden stuff that cost us. Furniture, mower, tools, decking care/fence care, shed.

  • Anybody bought in and around Thornton Heath? Had an offer accepted / mortgage approved just need to get a homebuyers survey done and I guess it makes sense to find somebody local who knows of any surrounding issues..or does it matter?
