  • Roadie folklore says that Assos is above and beyond in terms of comfort. Yes or no?
I'm happy to pay that last little increment up to Assos prices if there really is a difference.

If not then I'm considering the DHBs with the thickest pad.

  • I got a pair of the T.cento_s7 bibs last summer.

It is very difficult to make comparisons because so many things vary. I had some arse abrasion on PBP but it was a long way and I was sat down a lot :-) I had less abrasion than some people and more than others. They have a very soft area basically in front of the pad which I found slightly unpleasant.

I also have a pair of Castellis which I have ridden a long way in and are also fine.

My favourites for my commute are a pair of Altura things that I got at a big discount from one of of Planet-x/Ribble etc but I have never been a long way in them.

So, in summary, I think you can worry too much about them. Your saddle and position on the bike is without doubt an order fo magnitude more important.

  • ....

Nah, I've sorted out my seat situation and have dialled in the rest of the bike very nicely indeed. No more chafing issues or similar.
Only thing left to sort out are actual sitbones that start complaining after 4 hours +. Just at the two respective points of direct contact. Not really something that can be solved with chamois cream so a better pad is my next variable.
