It's 25.4, not 27.2.
The whole reason is that they're slightly more comfortable than a 27.2 seatpost, instead of having a little rubber block on the seat tube like Trek, they opt for a more traditional way of reducing vibration going up to your backside.
It's one of the many reason why I told @dancing james to get the Synapse.

Really? I just guessed 27.2. To me those clusters look as if like they're built to take an aero post, then filled in to put a round one in. Just looks ugly to my eye...
