  • Building up a recent purchase and looking at the headset.

    Picture 1: Is this normal? The headset sits correctly in the head tube, but the bottom of the headset has 90º angles and sits directly on carbon of the fork... shouldn't there be something between these two?

    When installed the headtube/fork junction looks like picture 2 which isn't completely flush but also doesn't look unusual to me.

    Looks fine, there has to be some gap otherwise you can't go around corners. I think Look may have been first with the integrated bearing seat chamfer on carbon forks, on the HSC5 in or before 2004, but other manufacturers have started to copy it.
