  • My ever continuing build..getting there now..(yeah right) I just want to upgrade the chain set (wheels manufacturing pf30 BB to shimano fit is rather heavy) thinking rotor? Trying out some challenge open crit tyres and just finished giving her a nice clean and service (y)

  • just stripped a flite saddle... what do I do next to make it less 'abrasive'? I can see this being unkind on denim...i swear there was a thread somewhere?

  • Fine sand paper, with something like an oil you can wipe off... just to get it smooth? Maybe even just some water to ease the sanding

    Cover it with leather?

Or bin it and buy a nice shine Flite Evo

  • something like an oil you can wipe off.

An oil you can wipe off plastic? Good luck with that! Water is a perfectly good cutting lubricant, and won't soak into the plastic and weaken it as oil will.

  • got one for £free which is what I paid for this?

  • Well, I did say like oil. Actually I couldn't remember the word lubricant

  • Fine sandpaper then cover in carbon vinyl?

  • Gripped and a test ride to town and back, really fun and way more stable at speed now.

So far new tyres, tubes, stem, seatpost, and handlebars. Swapped the old brakes and grips onto new track style drops. Using a spare saddle, but it's trimmed green, would be better if I could find all white or with blue.

Still need to replace all the cables, and look for better brake levers and calipers.

  • Just bought an MX leader recently, one of my grail bikes. Was thinking of creating a Thread for it, but it got built up so fast that there wasnt any point in making one.

Still got a couple of changes i want to happen; Grammo quill stem, shorter valves on tubes, etc. Currently got the Ti Groupset for sale as I'm hoping for a campagnolo 11 speed groupset.

  • Nice build!
Does the frameset come from Bruxelles?

  • Flop'n' chop the bars (seems like it would give much nicer riding position), some cheap aero shimano levers and some clips down the stem for the cabling? It would look much nicer with a retro saddle IMHO (Turbo or Rolls). Nice color and shiny chrome though!

  • I did try the whole bars flipped for the chopper look, and thought about some bullhorns, but if I had bullhorns and bar end/aero brakes I couldn't use the original grips/gripshift. Maybe it would be way closer to an O'Bree though :D

I kinda like the riding positions now - I can be out the saddle uphill, and I have three positions to go between. Stupidly tight geo when in the drops, but not painful.

Stupidly I sold the perfect saddle (a worn white Supercorsa) on here a few months ago, thinking I'd never need it.

  • I just want to upgrade the chain set (wheels manufacturing pf30 BB to shimano fit is rather heavy)

Each to their own but you have a (not light) Ti frame and (heavy) Thomson seatpost. And valve caps. Do you need a new, lighter, worse chainset?

If you just have to spend some money buy some goats perhaps.

  • Did you get a track one of these as well?

  • Spent a few hours in the garage tonight throwing this together. Needs work obviously but it's getting there.

  • i like that a lot

  • Building this Fauxnago into a fixed TT bike. The bar setup looks sick. Anyone got an open-pro disc wheel cover they wanna sell me?

  • With the VSF taking on practical duties, I turned my Pina back into a (gravel going) road bike with some bargain basement wheels from Wiggle and Panaracer Gravel King 28s:

Oh yeah, and Spesh CG-R and Phenom from my trade with @sykodrama. Ignore the rear valve - had a puncture yesterday, and my ride buddy bailed me out with a spare tube meant for some deeper wheels.

  • Compare apples to apples! .. Assuming you get a 3D+ that's 468g advertised, then put some rings on it, 153g Rotor compact Non Q, and it weighs 621g vs 694g advertised for your current Ultegra. If you get a 3D, advertised as 540g, then you're saving 1g! Obviously, there's some difference in the bottom bracket weights ..

  • max or, got corrosion under nds tt, so respray and decal then nos euclid mtb

and 32's on this are pretty snug, so will go slimmer

forks need re chroming and rear tri angle, but will try to replicate colour
