My respect for Steve and Kurt is through the roof, but now that we're nearing the end of the year my astonishment for what Tommy originally did all those years ago is mind-boggling. It might be that when it comes down to it the mental fortitude and physical demands are the same no matter what era this record is attemped, but 1939 seems a long fucking time ago when it comes to bike technology, maps, road quality, nutrition...TG must have been a hard bastard to end all hard bastards.
