  • Lovely indeed!
    What size is the Kona?

  • Only one of these and a regular mutlispeed chainring.

  • I have a late 90s custom made 26er. The frame is a Grandis (http://www.cicligrandis.it/mountain-bike-su-misura/storia-grandis_ENG.htm) made using Columbus Nivacrom steel tubes. It is build up with a complete LX Shimano Groupset and Mavic X 222 rims (problem: rear hub probably needs to be repalecd).

I loved this bike but it has not been used since I moved to London and I was thinking to sell it; it is sad to see it just taking dust in the house (and I have limited space for bikes, being now n = 3)

If i post some pictures would you give me your suggestions about the price and what you think about its market here in London or UK?

  • Yeah post up some pics - I'd be interested if it were my size...

  • yes... i tried to sell it ages ago, probably overpriced. The thing I do not get is that on ebay single parts of the groupset (like crankset) can also go for £30-40 (crazy to me)... So i do not get the real value of it!

The quality of the picture is awful... And I personally prefer the original tyres!

  • wtf radavist.. or maybe thats just a joke

  • Just finished putting this together. It's an F2000SL with recon forks, fulcrum wheels and shimano zee 1x10 setup. Still got the OG forks, wheels & brakes.

  • Zee?!

    Needs original Fatties also

  • My Klein, needs a lot of stuff changing and sorting out

  • thats nice and functional. would ride

  • Fatties need a service, and zee is functional for the use it will get, maybe twice a year on current form.

  • I'm very tempted to put together a 26" AM/enduro bike.
Mainly because I'm 5'6", so want to go with minimal wheel size if I'm looking for say 140mm of travel.

Any links to bargin frames appreciated.

Currently trying sell of my 29er bits.

  • Here's my lil purple riding hood. Stem+bars combo is way different now, will upload some newer photos once I'm in the mood. It's a Dancelli with Columbus Gara tubing and a full LX set.

  • Fatties need a service

Probably worth posting something that old to the US to have someone do a proper job on it.

Craig Mendon might even have an elusive yellow fork boot!

  • In other news, I was not last at this weekends Gorrick Endura autumn classic round, despite being on 26"

    And being horribly fatigued

And being just a bit crap at XC

  • Or these fellas - serviced my bombers and were excellent

  • They won't touch pre 2006 'dale stuff

  • Ah! I stand corrected :)

  • I've got an old 26er (BSO really but essentially NOS) gifted to me from my Dad's recent shed clear out.

I'd like to use it as a back-up commuter but also have the ability to try a bit of moderate off-roaring, which for mean would mean anything that wasn't sealed tarmac!

So I'm thinking 'semi-slick' tyres, but I've never bought a MTB tyre in my life, what are people recommending?

  • Something like a Schwalbe Marathon (Plus) will handle gravel roads, fire tracks etc and be great on the commute too.

More tread = more capable offroad but slower running and faster wearing on road.

Maybe something with a low profile tread like a Conti RaceKing if you want a bit more grip off road without feeling like you're dragging a corpse on the road.

My Surly 1x1 had a Conti Raceking on the front and a Marathon on the rear for most of the summer and was used for commuting, forestry paths, bits of the west highland way etc.

  • Small block 8.

Or something with a negative tread. Indents instead of knobs. They'll roll nice on the tarmac. But should still grip the soft stuff.

  • ooh subbed.

  • Working on this all new 26'er: Ritchey P Team with Shimano XT 8000 (2x11 speed)

Forks are just for the time being. I'm waiting for a white Reba RL (although I like the black coloured one too).
