  • On a CX bike, anywhere between 55-60gi should be fine.

Even your sprinter's legs will struggle with 42x17 ;-)

  • Would really like to come to this, but can't get there til 10:45, is there any chance you can wait for me?

  • is there any chance you can wait for me?

    I expect so :-)

  • Blimey, that's a list! :0)

I can see some competition happening!

I'm still unable to get the day off, but will be with you in spirit....I'm going to have a trundle down there again today (3rd week on the trot) and will update on conditions

  • will update on conditions

I have a fair idea of what they're going to be....

  • Hmmm... Wet, muddy conditions?
Maybe I can purchase some innovative rain trousers coming to Kickstarter soon and that will sort me out for the day.

  • Like that, but with moar leaves! At one point the bottom of my 32 tooth chainring dipped in the gloop! Not a euph.....

  • Ah well, soft landings then.

  • There still plenty of good stuff though fella.....it's interspersed with gloop!

  • Awesome. Hope I can find some of it ;-)

    @umop3pisdn - I don't see you on there yet?

  • I'm away :(

  • Bump! Excited for this! (Not for the mud!)

  • I'm relatively new to off roading, rode Epping last week but the continental CX race tyres I was running were too slippery. Hoping the 1.75 Smart Sam's I'll be on on Sat will run okay? Only time will tell...

  • Given how many unfamiliar faces are expected on this and knowing the trails will be a bit slippery, we'll be starting off slowly and seeing how people get on.

I'll try to spread the more experienced out in the group, so they can keep an eye on the noobs :-)

  • What bike will you be on, Zooey?

  • Will be on my cross check, only off road worthy bike I have at the moment. I think 1.75s are the widest I can fit so hoping they'll be big/knobbly enough.

  • Dom, will you be on your all city?

  • Dom, will you be on your all city?

I'll be on my 26" hardtail mountain bike. :)

  • I think 1.75s are the widest I can fit so hoping they'll be big/knobbly enough.

I'm sure they'll be more grippy than your previous Conti CX race tyres, but as BN writes in the first post:

As far as bikes go, it's ridable on most bikes. As long as you can fit
knobbly tyres of around 32c or more and have working brakes, you're probably
    good to go.

And getting stuck in the mud is all part of the fun, right?!

    I'm super excited for this!
