Does 6.5 and 5.5 refer to the width of the nose?
As far as I can tell, yes.

That Selle is impressively ugly
Which saddle are you talking about, and why have you started dropping Italian words into your comments?

That Selle Italia Iron Tekno Flow S Triathlon Saddle - black that you linked.

I think it looks better than any of the following:
Fizik Tritone
ISM Adamo
Any droop-snoot SMP
Specialized Sitero
Cobb PlusThe Pro Aerofuel looks tidy and might fit me. The porn option is the Dash $1000 combo:

That Pro looks pretty good actually. Why have you changed you position on split nose vs regular saddles?
-
• #59
Did I have a position? If I did, I probably haven't changed it yet. On the evidence so far (a total of 60 minutes on the rollers), the Fizik might be better than the SLR XP I had on there before, but I always thought the standard SLR was better than the XP too.
Did you change your saddle height when you switched to the Adamo? The Fizik feels right when I'm sitting on the bullhorns, but when I roll forward onto the tribars it seems like I'm not getting as much leg extension as I was on a saddle with something under my lunchbox in that position.

I'd never actually measured saddle height on my TT bike until now, but measuring from the BB to the top of the saddle is exactly the same height as on my bikes with regular saddles (32"). I probably sit slightly further forward on the Adamo (but not triathlete amounts) so it's effectively slightly lower (?). It's been higher and lower at various points of the season, but current saddle height and position felt perfect at Tring.

Now you've made my get a plumb line out to check my saddle set back. Thrown on as far as I can gauge to plant me on it as per SLR, the lack of any kind of nose on the Fizik means the front of the saddle is 125mm behind the BB centre - definitely nothing like a triathlenger :-)
If KOPS had any real validity, I'd have to move it back another 15mm to test the 160mm cranks which are waiting in the wings. It's all going a bit Steve Bauer:
Sitting well behind the BB on a frame with normal reach seems to have got him a proto-Superman position, so he might have been onto something:

Judging by all of the wink-wink stuff on the TT forum, sitting further back and lower is useful in dropping CdA.

The lower headset bearing has, after about 5 years of being drenched in sweat, finally crossed that crucial dividing line between "I should look at that" and totally unridable.

Going to run any grips on the extensions?
-
• #66
Never do.
-
• #67
Why the grips halfway on the old bars?
-
• #68
The old extensions were much too long, but I couldn't be arsed to cut them down. The end of the grips marked where the end of the extension would have been if I'd got my hacksaw out.

Spa Cycles own brand 160mm cranks and Gebhardt 57T/110pcd ring. The old 56T/130pcd Stronglight ring is freed up to go on the T3, either on the cheap generic 160mm cranks or on something nice depending on cash flow.

I lied. Didn't realise how slippy the gloss paint on the Zipps would be when covered in sweat and with no gloves, so the genetic Vein grips have gone back on.
Need to tweak the pad width, the increments are a bit big on the Vola-style cups and I want to be about halfway between the narrow and mid positions.

Selle Italia Iron and its rather non-reflective reflector. The Schwalbe Reflex tyre in the background shows what a reflector should do.

You on for Kona?

What's with the [any old] Iron?
Just thought I might as well try it. Feels weird first time out, but the nose is much narrower than the Tritone, which is probably a good thing. Doesn't go back far enough, which is a bad thing; I have some wiggle room on the T3, but I think the Fort needs a post with more set back.

A mere 4 years after promising developments below the tyres, I've finally made a start on the drawings. Another 4 years and I might actually have something to show for it :-)

'07 called and they asked for their coloured fixeh tyres back ;)
Seriously though, what's the purpose?
I've had luck on the specialized sitero. Pricy but.
