WR pace, or rate, is an arbritrary linear figure of appx 206 miles per day, over the year. if a rider is over that and can maintain being over it then the indicator is that WR can be eclipsed.
WR will only be known once one of the combatants has surpassed (no mean feat, even today) TG's original record.
"Steve manages an Essex-Suffolk-Cambridgeshire loop of 217 miles, putting him just 31 miles behind WR pace. At the rate of recent progress, he will hit the WR line before the weekend."
