@Emyr I had the same thing with direct fit. I decided that just bolting through a hole in the guard would be fragile (SKS chromo) so I flattened the bolt tab, then drilled through the flat part of the bracket, and a corresponding hole in the guard. Used a washer against the guard to spread the load
of a domed allen bolt, and a leather or cork washer betwixt the bracket and the boss on the brake bridge.Lasted for 5 years so far.

Condor?

My sks Chromoplastics on the Pomp were drilled about, 5 years ago? Been on and off, stuck in boxes, had the crap kicked out them and never had a leather washer near them and they're still going strong.

I agree that mine have had an equally rough life too...no cracking whatsoever

Hah lols you cunt.

Turns out I actually just used a normal washer.

Not sure if seriously offended by my comment or....?

I thought probably not but just wanted to make sure!

I think they lack the rolled edge of their metal counterparts (and Sks has a bump) which makes them not so great.

I like that the bracket isn't riveted on, opening up options for attachment without destructive modifications.

Does a clip-on front fender exist with enough coverage to keep my feet from getting wet? I can't be the only one to want something like this to exist.

I bought a pair of these Latt guards from Swarf Cycles last week, the 35mm ones. Fitted them over a couple of evenings and did a 50mile ride with them yesterday. I have an Enigma Etape. My thoughts:
Measure twice, drill once. I took my time with the fitting. They come with the holes drilled for the stays and for fitting the rear to the BB/chainstay bridge. You do the rest. I trimmed about 5" off front guard with bandsaw as it was coming too far over the top of the wheel. This is the look I aimed for: http://www.thevanillaworkshop.com/leave-it-on-the-road/
I repurposed an SKS front guard brake mount as the supplied fitting wouldn't work. The angled bracket you show above wasn't supplied, not that it would work on my bike. Make sure you have a box of spare bolts/washers etc so you can come up with a solution for your bike! Unless all the planets align, it's a good few hours/couple of evening's work to get them fitted. By comparison I fitted and fettled my previous SKS Bluemels in 30mins.
Over bumpy roads there is some guard/tyre rub/interaction which I am hoping to fettle away tonight. I think it's coming from the rear guard. These guards aren't as easy to align as SKS as you only have one stay to adjust. They are much stiffer than SKS and stay put once you have them set up. Hopefully I can get rid of the occaisional rubbing as the sound is quite loud due the the stiff carbon amplifying things.
There is a Nylock nut (same size as one in last photo) which attaches the stays to the guard. It sits between the fender and the tyre and therefore clearance needs to be allowed for it.
TLDR: Takes time to fit. Bolts/fittings may not be perfect for your bike. Will need fettling.
Will update......

My CAAD 9 with 25c tyres and campag calipers has next to no clearance for a full guard. Are there any other options than sks raceblade style?
-
• #1793
I find that most mudguards will struggle with clearance with 25mm tyres, you can try crud or pwd as other options, or even go back down to a 23mm tyres.

Crud roadracer mk2.
They're decent if you can fettle them up properly, but nowhere near as good as a full guard. But much better than nothing if your frame will allow nothing else.

Any alternative to the black hammered VO mudguards, which are unavailable in UK? (For 32/35c 700 tyres)... Apart from pdw which are not actually black and find somehow over engineered...
And not the £120 carbon ones.
And not plastic.

SKS Longboard, and wait for the VO mudguard.

Apart from pdw which are not actually black
They'll soon be available in black black:

Edit: I fucked up the reply - this was in response to @veLLo.

Oh my! Wish I'd waited for them in black.

On the PDW front:
I managed to thread one of the "fender safety tabs" when adjusting one of the grub screws yesterday.
And broke a screwdriver bit in the process.
A guy in condor agreed the safety tabs are made of cheese.
On the positive side Condor did stock replacements and also a proper brake bracket for the rear mudguards which I didn't even know existed.
Also Condor have spare grub screws (for free) if you ever need them. Apparently they are the same ones used somewhere on Bromptons too. -

I snapped a bit inside the grub screw and I can't get it out. Whilst I'm pleased replacement tabs are available (I was unaware until you posted), I don't want to have to buy them.
Need to figure out a way to remove that grub screw...
Anyone aware of a place with PDW full metal fenders in stock?
