Fixed gear?

What for? My off the peg bikes haven't exactly been slowing me down and if I break one of them it'll take maybe a week or two to get another one versus months to have a replacement built. The bike-packing aspect of TransAm is where custom might prove advantageous but I don't even know what I need for that yet. If Ultan can race TransCon on a OTP TT bike then I can do TransAm on one. Question is, do I want to?
None of this is finding me cheap Di2 parts :P

Thanks but my lifestyle is a big enough handicap, I don't need another one.

Ultan's OTP was pricier than a custom though. Custom is exactly what it says and not necessarily pricey. Ride the PX into the ground as it is and start the design/brief process for Trans-am custom bike that does all of that plus covers your audax/TT style of riding?

wasnt it a trek speed concept with DA?

The PX is being ridden into the ground which is why I need to replace bits on it which is why I thought an update to Di2 and bar setup closer to my Shiv might be warranted. But you're right the cheapest option is to replace the cable, BB and headset and carry on until something more serious breaks.
I'm not thinking about TransAm until after the Worlds then.. I still probably won't think about it until about June next year by which time it will be too late, the Tarmac will get a set of clip-ons and off I go.

£3350 for the latest frameset but I think it's the one he already owned and used in the National 24hrs. Who builds custom TT frames?

lulz.
Yeah PX doesent really 'deserve' all this. Save your money for a Trans-am TT audax Hippy wagon.
Whats the point of your tarmac?

It's unfair innit, any other fatty in town easily being able to buy that with petty cash ;-)

But I do!
The Tarmac was bought for L2P years ago and does any sportives, Euro jaunts, training camps and cycling holidays with primarily climbing. It also did PBP this year because they don't allow aerobars.

If I wanted shifters that did nothing I'd just pull the cables out of mine.

I was after a bit of help/advice and thought this was the best place to ask. I recently picked up a bargain pair of Shimano R685 hydraulic shifters and am slowly getting the calipers and other parts to fit them. I just wondered as I have never had hydraulics about the hoses and whether a Shimano set would have all I need to connect up the calipers? I can't find anything specifically for the road brakes but assumed the MTB hoses would work on them? I was also going to get one of the ebay bleed kits and wondered if anyone could let me know if 100ml of mineral oil would be enough? Having only had cable discs in the past am not sure how much the system actually needs. Any help really appreciasted, thanks.

Shimano hose will work.

• #1217
thanks, you don't happen to know if the hoses or calipers will come with the connecting bolt or if that is something you have to buy seperately?

di2 firmware updates - how much difference to they make and how often do people do them?
how easy are they?
-
• #1219
I do them when I charge.
They make no difference I can see. -

No idea.
Never.
No idea.Glad I could help.

you are almost as useless as me

My Di2 works though...
-
• #1223
Same here, my Di2 is pretty flawless, the rider however...

The rider however...
Like the kind who decide they only need 9 speed instead of 11.

That would just be fucking stupid, I am just fucking shit
Specificity. I ride my TT position for most of the year over everything, just not deepest darkest winter when I'm too busy being drunk anyway.
Yeah, I tried ebay, not much came up. Maybe I should just sell everything to fund the TransAm bike..
