If it's a GSX1100 then I pity your spine. Pretty sure mine's never recovered from taking one out of an EFE on my own five years or so ago.
I will be the director but I'm not alone, and I will use tools of leverage for the final extraction.
Good plan, also often easier to put the engine on its side on the floor and lay the frame/bike down on top of it...
