  • love that colour. is it just the primer?

  • Aye. In the boat trade, known as raddle red. Wanted my narrowboat that colour but the ex Mrs Jontea wouldn't hear of it.

  • Yeah... It's nice isn't it. First can exploded all over me... Went to pick the little one up from play date looking like I'd killed someone...

I'm tempted to leave this colour but think I'm going to stick with the Fluro red (which might end up being more pink...)

  • You don't have to wait forever for black components, just have the ones you've got anodised (the imaginatively named A1 Anodisers of scenic Crawley can help), see the Super Record chainset on my Mercian.... It's pretty damned cheap.

  • Great projekt. Subscribed.

But fluro needs a white base layer to really pop, you won't get that effect with this primer.

@drøn have you seen the Schwalbe lineup for next season? http://www.bikerumor.com/2015/07/02/schwalbe-sees-tubeless-as-future-of-bike-tires-introduces-new-pro-one-g-one-gravel-tire-more/

  • I've got a shit ton of white, I'm OK to spray that over the primer before the red... Right?

  • Shit... Would never have thought of that! Great idea! In Singapore so Crawley is a bit far but must be somewhere around here... Activate Google skills..

  • I have now, thanks. G-one looks nice.

  • Yeah, that should work :)

@drøn I was thinking more in the line of the 60mm big one for your riding style. For this Elephant the big one and g-one are both interesting alternatives too.

  • Both those options look good, Schwalbe got to be cheaper than compass too...

  • Turns out that you have to let spray paint cure for longer than I thought. Nay dramas, still on undercoat so not a massive problem. 1st white coat done back right is the Fluro red that this will end up being:

  • Hi gandalf,
Can you recommend stores in Singapore that doesn't only stock roadies stuff?
Most of the stores I went either basic Road stuff or mtb

Eg: Those pacenti rims for example

    Thanks
    Dave

  • Used to use TR Bikes but sadly Lynten has had to shut up shop, no real market for non-carbon mass market stuff. Most of the stuff I get off classifieds here and occasionally to go parts.com ... Rims came direct from Pacenti, they have a great sale on at the moment, worth it even with international postage.

  • Ah heard about TR but haven't got the chance. To bad about that then.
    The same situation here(Indonesia)
    Cheers for the info.

  • Loving this colour! First coat done, going to give it some time before next one, probs Wednesday, should give it a bit longer to cure. By that time dyno-hub should have arrived and can get on with a bit of wheel building... All this not going down well with the missus, managed to coat done towels with a very fine dusting of fluro red this morning. Yikes.

  • Fuuuuckk.
This is up with my dream bikes. Excited to see what happens with this

  • i like where this is going

did you go full fluoro pink on the ozette?

  • Haven't dropped any dorrah on the Swift bag yet... exploring other options, don't want to be too influenced by interwebz fandom. It's expensive too.

I do want to keep with the fluro theme though and apart from Swift Industries there aren't too many options out there that aren't old skool Renne Herse type stuff.

  • hope I don't fuck it up.. do not want to disappoint...

  • Talking abt fluro - I need to find brake and gear cables in fluro red. Compressionless, full length... any suggestions..? @edscoble?

  • Regarding the bag, my advice is to look at Bigxtop for a custom made bag that fit the dimension and height you wanted.

It come out a lots cheaper and lighter too.

As for compressionless, my favourite were the Yokozuna Reaction (combine with Cane Creek SCR-5 and BB7, it feel like hydraulic) but the Jagwire should work pretty well.

  • I've been wanting to pull the trigger on a Swift bag for a while, can never decide on colours!

^The Jagwire red isn't fluro at all, and Yokozuna despite it's fantastic rep is a bit ugly... It's difficult to tell how bright the red on the rack actually is, the jagwire might be a bit clashy. what about going for a contrast colour?

  • I know it's not fluro, but I'm not sure if they exist.

Best to go for reliable braking in normal colour than spongy one that have the right colour

  • Yeah I agree, the only fluro i have seen is BMX brake cables... Jagwire is a solid choice though, i'm a fan of the sterling silver or titanium.
