  • Shock horror! Not sure mine will last long.

  • Went to a charity beer tasting last night at Hop Burns & Black for Mind. Was hosted by Matthew Curtis and was based on unsung hero beers, beers which are, perhaps, outshone by their breweries or rivals more popular beers but great in their own right.

    These beers were:

    Augustiner Lagerbier Hell
Beavertown's 8 Ball Rye IPA (Totally eclipsed by the popularity of Neck Oil and Gamma Ray)
    Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout
    Boon Mariage Parfait
Renaissance Scotch Ale (Simon had never had a scotch ale and loved this)
New Belgium Lips of Faith Le Terroir dry hoped sour (Matt got this out in Colorado and it was one of the best sours I've ever had).

I got a delivery today of some beers including De Molen's Bloed Zweet and Tranen Bruichladdich oak aged version from 2010. Yum.

Tonight I'm going to Oktober Feast in Canada Water. There's beers from UK, USA and Germany plus Bleecker Street burgers, lobster rolls, spit roasts, tacos, schnitzel, curry wurst and black forest profiteroles on offer foodwise.

  • Mate sent me details for that but I thought their beers were a bit meh. Maybe it was just because it was in Canada Water.

    Charity beer tasting sounds cool.

Had the Brewdog Russian Doll set last night after starting on Woodford Double Oak. I think I'd had it too long. The pale was thin, the IPA was nice, the double IPA was ok but not super and the barley wine was pretty nice.

  • Yeah I'm going as it's a farewell drinks to my mate who is in the Merchant Navy and off to a ship on Monday plus there is a lot of meat. Only beers on the list I am excited about are the Magic Rock ones as I've not had any yet.

  • All Wetherspoons. There are 50 festival casks on rotation, so you just need to turn up and see which ones they currently have on tap.

  • Bleeker did tempt me.

Enjoy. I finished on Drambuie last night watching Silicon Valley with a mate so I was bit rough this morning. Another sober weekend for me so I can get my training done. #sadface

  • How long for? Maybe next week. #happyface #fuckinalco

  • Until the 2nd of November. I have my 50p off CAMRA vouchers too...

  • .@BrooklynBrewery BQE, Quintaceratops tasting today at @utobeercage.

    You're welcome

  • Motherfucker, why were they not doing that yesterday when I could actually be there when they are open.

  • I warned them you'd be there.

  • something to make the drag to xmas a little more bearable, beer advent calendar

  • no idea what beers are included ... hopefully not fosters carlsberg or heineken

    wreck the halls

  • Making my own one

At Oktober Feast. Managed to confuse some barman enough to walk away with a free Magic Rock High Wire. The American bar is just expensive cans. Best place to be is upstairs in the Berlin craft bar, by far the cheapest and nicest. Funnily enough @mands is up here too!

  • I'm trying to decide which takeaway establishment should get my coins... #thuglife

  • Boss bought me 4 fancy beers for my birthday, i took over from him at work and he rode off full speed to hit the Thornbridge brewery bottle shop before it shut. He made it and sent me this. Beerection.

  • Got some new Weird Beard.

Mac Spreadsheet Ninja, No More Bright Ideas, Turtle something, something else..

  • Amazing. The Colorado is a beautiful ale. Don't see the Raven often either. One if the early black IPAs.

  • Chimay Red at lunch, called by beer shop on the way home...

Buxton's Wyoming Sheep Ranch - 8% very tasty
Flying Dog The Gourd Standard followed by The Fear... prefer the former, nice and spicy, both good though.

  • Evil twin is my new love - had a pint of chili stout tonight, top notch

  • I didn't read all the recent posts, @hippy @Kat_Balou where can I get the quintaceratops in London?

Also @hippy, last weekend I was in Borough Market, they are no longer carrying the Local 1, just FYI

  • Utobeer, Noble Green

  • Have just finished a bottle of the Tart; my first and last foray into sours. Had a bottle of Jaipur at the Sedge Lynn before that. It's about £2.50 a throw there, so you can't really turn it down. Also, I picked up a bottle of the Thornbridge Brouwerij 't IJ wheat beer and it is suddenly in 500ml bottles and reasonably priced. Did they realise that charging £3.50+ for a 330ml bottle was a bit much? If so then good on them!
