^ I picked up a pair of blunnies last autumn. Very comfy and has taken me through 1 winter without problems at all. Will need to give them some loving now it's getting wetter and colder, but so far they've been the best pair of boots I've owned
Pondering these for winter though

Bought some new Meermins because.
Off to NYC in a couple of weeks. Which boots to pick up? + where to shop?
-
• #4633
probably danners

Have you looked at Redbacks? Still made in Australia, cheaper than Blundstone, maybe better grip.

Alden's.

On the meermin front, these look very nice indeed.

I sent mine off to Loake last year for a re-sole and re-heal. The shoes came back looking great with new leather sole, heal, inner, laces and they also do a refurb of the upper. I'd definitely recommend it for the £65 quid it cost me. It did take around 4/5 weeks though.

where to shop?

Leffot (shop) and Alden, Yuketen, Viberg
All top dollar but the best there is.

Hmmm...
I'm looking for something like that. Basically a winter office boot for when the weather gets really shit.
- Black
- Rubber sole
- Suit suitable
I'm keeping my eye out for a pair of Loake Hydes as well. Any idea how Meermin stack up in quality vs Loake?
Also does anyone have any experience of wearing boots with quick eyelets(?) with suit trousers? Another pair of more fashion-like boots often grab the inside of the hem. Just wondering if what looks like a stiffer upper might work better. The quick eyelets do make getting boots on and off a lot easier.
- Black

Thanks guys - added them to all to the list.

I wear some black Red Wing Beckmans with a suit. But I have smallish feet for my height, which makes it easier to get away with.
-

Yeah, I'm not really sure I could. I'm looking for something a lot more formal/conservative,but which are still practical for walking about in the rain and a bit walmer.
My main reservation was around the quick eyelets / fasteners and them catching on the inside of the trouser when moving. Jeans are heavy enough and usually a bit longer so that they don't snag.

Good shout. Could fill my lack of brogues too.
A pair of Trickers in some sort of brown pebble grain are definitely on my list for shoes to own, but again not really formal business wear appropriate. Cheers though. And thanks for the spell check, sometimes my mind just goes blank when it comes to words.

@Tenderloin I bought some Danner Bull Run 6" when I was in Portland last month - really like them.

Suit suitable
The conclusion I came to is that the only boot that looks good with a suit is a black chelsea, and you need to have a well cut, narrow-legged suit to pull it off. A flappy leg will not do at all.
I got slated on here for posting them before, but I got myself some fracap m120s for the upcoming, and undoubtedly lovely, Glasgow winter. I'm absolutely loving them.
