My wife wants to sell her Mixte. anyone know how much I should be asking roughly?
-
• #10704
Is that a Jack Taylor?? definitely over £300 judging by how well looked after it is and the rear hub gear.

beautiful isn't is? however, I should have mentioned it's not a JT, it's something unknown but very high quality and refinished by the great JT. I built it a for my wife quite a while ago, and don't really know what I should be asking for it.

I was going to suggest less but my ebay trawl of 'nice' mixtes suggests otherwise:
Nice Mercian sold for £695
Ratty Mercian sold for £400

But mixtes aren't a limited market so they may not find much interest. -

Weird, can't edit the lower part of that post, it should read 'are a limited market' not aren't. Also can't remove that link.

Does anyone make wide, relatively light 26" rims for rim brakes, or is there something vintage I should look out for?
-
• #10722
The great thing about 26" rims is that they're already reasonably light.
The XM317 is reasonably light, got double wall and eyelit.
-
• #10723
Trials rims are readily available in 26" and as wide as you want.
They'll not be super light but shouldn't be too bad considering the width. You can get single wall and cut/drilled out if you want to sacrifice a bit of strength for lightweight-ness.

Not massively wide though. Looking around, I always though my d521 was hugely porky, but it turns out it's not too bad at 580g, considering how indestructable it is. Was considering the benefits of those fancy new compass tyres and am struggling to see how you'd make the most of a 55mm tyre on a 21mm internal rim.
Love that Cargobike
