or just buy better drill bits and replace them more often..
-
• #4879
@stevo_com you never need to justify new tools!
-
• #4880
I want new tools...
Got my first council bill.
Can't afford new tools :-(
-
• #4881
You start by borrowing tools which you never give back, keep your eyes and ears open for any sign of someone buying new tools then try and borrow their old ones.

Tried that, bought varying degrees of price and design of drill bits, hammer action on the Bosch is balls.
Besides, the SDS+ was £50 from screwfix with a two year warranty. I've spent more than that on bits in the last two months.

Dude, ALDI is doing one of those multi cutters I was telling you about for £20

Previous owner removed all picture rails, plaster ceiling roses and all cornices apart from living room.... They also removed the original pine doors and replaced them with sliding doors which wrecked the door frames and meant there was a massive cavity above the doors where the runner was installed. I'm trying to get everything back like original.
New picture rails were attached with coving adhesive with a couple of screws on each 2m piece to keep them in place. Curved walls have flexible picture rail which was pricey, but we could not get wooden rail to bend enough, even after slotting it and wetting it.

@andpurnell
Second Worktop Express. With ours there was a little bit of a delay in getting the worktops in stock so it took a couple of weeks longer than we hoped (this won't be an issue if yours are in stock).
Quality, delivery service and prices are all spot on though.

Extractor fans are for suckers and people who like to bump their heads when cooking.
I'm thinking of spending Dec trying to refit my bathroom. Chances of success? Lowish.

I have no hot water!

Anyone have any idea if I need planning permission to widen a door way in a dry wall. Not sure if I have asked before. Only widening it a foot. Need to sort out my bike cupboard too.
-
• #4896
You don't need planning permission for internal changes. You may need building control to sign off the works, if the changes are structural - ie if the doorway is in a supporting wall.
-
• #4897
Are you leasehold though?
-
• #4898
And where would I get that? Doubt it's a supporting wall as its drywall and crap. MIght buy lots of plywood this weekend for a cupboard build/fit. Anyone have any experience or resources/tips for such a product? Basically going to be filling an old boiler cupboard with shelving/draws.
