Yes, and I don't fit the stereotypical traithalump who's going to spunk £200 on a pointy hat especially when I'll be looking at a 6-7 hour bike leg.

60 seconds over 40km (for TT compared to standard road helmet) means under 5 minutes over 180km, thought it was going to be more than that so no point for me worrying about it.

Maybe an aero-road helmet would be more suitable if you're worried about looking a bit Mekon. Something like a Giro Synthe or Specialized Evade?
Personally if I'm going to be wearing a TT lid, I'll also be wearing a skinsuit and hi-viz velotoze, so I realy don't care what I look like.
