  • Would always fight for an op, even though they're getting more difficult to get if you're not already in A&E immediately after the accident, and decide you want one later via your GP. 11 months after LockDown and shoulder feels great, no bump and fine with bags.

  • 2nd that in a big way.

I have full mobility after 3 weeks (Obvs not doing any heavy lifting yet but can ride bikes!).

Heard a horror story from someone who had a break in July.
Convinced out of having the operation, put up with sling and pain for months.
Most recent X-ray, no-change in bone alignment, not healing..

  • That's better than it taking four years and twelve opinions to finally nail down diagnosis of a non-union with clear daylight between the two parts. Too late for bone graft so removal of collarbone, remodelling of shoulder blade and lashing resulting mess together with artificial ligaments. Ten years later and I'm approaching full function though my neck is fucked. Design life of ligaments - 10 years.
Top tip: when asked to grade pain say "Aaarggh!" not "I'd put that somewhere between eight and nine."
Four breaks: mid shaft - displaced, lateral - non-displaced, lateral - displaced, shattered. Only the shattered one was picked up first time.
