So, let's say the blood analysis reveals a bad condition, what can be done?
a visit to michele ferrari's clinic?!
-
• #204
Depends what it is, innit. Could be infection, hereditary disease, cancer, fucking all manner of nasty shit or it could just be the old clot and too much riding.
The last thing I need is even thicker blood! So the EPO will have to wait I'm afraid.

:$
chin up mate
they say they're going to take me off warf in October, wait two months then run the gamut of blood tests, then back on warf. This is my 2nd confirmed bout (there may have been other milder ones..) so at my geriatric status they're not taking chances.

Hopefully I get the new drugs on Monday and can stop the needles. At least the Tinz is less painful than the Fragmin. The iron thing I dunno, I thought I ate a fair bit of red meat and I'm not scared of green leafy stuff. Might neck some supplemental iron for a few days (yeah, yeah I know, it's bad blah blah).

There's plenty of Iron in a balanced diet.
There is also plenty of Iron in stuff you might not consider,
chickpeas, lentils, almonds, cashews.
Tahini is pretty good as is date syrup,
(you know West Ealing, have a look in those Turkish [?] shop s for)
'hurma pekmez' best translated as 'date molasses'.An energy, (and Iron) dense, Turkish treat is tahini mixed with a fruit molasses
spread on bread! It is possible to get enough Iron in the diet without extra meat.
The NHS fixed a condition where I was losing blood.
Regular blood checks while I waited for the necessary op
routinely showed my haemoglobin level to be at the top end of 'healthy',
and
I haven't eaten meat for 30 years.Good luck,
hope the meds work,
and you do not suffer from any more. -

Cheers. Might grab some of those.

been thinking about this: the clots are a symptom, the immediate cause is large bleeds into a vein due to large tears during blood vessel wall renewal. So finding out what the negative factors are with vessel wall tears would be the most useful information. I'm guessing high % for : age ; lifestyle (diet and toxins) ; then genetics - minimise / speed up blood vessel wall tears (many small tears as opposed to fewer large tears) may be the key

Mid-August I should get some results back so might find out if it's genetic or if there's other factors. Or it could reveal nothing.

Latest update:
It's a requirement for my job to travel, so back out to Istanbul last week. Had a catch up with Dr., he chided me for doubling warfarin during the trip, saying that was 'extremely dangerous' in event of a bleed. I countered with asking him if he'd ever had 1 confirmed and 1 probable DVT, and suffered the pain and discomfort from them..
He'd like to taper me off the warfarin, with the 'persuader' that if I refused I could be bound to sign a medical release form disengaging him/NHS from any liability if I continue to take the anti-coagulants.
Decisions...

Shit, you just reminded me to take my drugs. Fuck I'm getting worse and worse at this!
-
• #222
I'm going to propose tapering warfarin off over 2 months, continuing with blood tests, then after a month 'clean' (January) have full blood analysis, but keep the remaining pills in me back pocket, just in case.
Dr says if I'm to go off warfarin then I should just take aspirin and use the compression socks.
-
• #223
Did you have blood tests to find out if the DVT was caused by clotting factors like genetics or something or have they just been because of travel? My tests were supposed to be back mid-August and I've still heard nothing.
-
• #224
I had an initial set, but never saw the results, so can only assume they weren't the full spectrum now proposed.
I know what caused the first two: unhealthy lifestyle and stress
Yes, chase the medics up, they're meant to be there to help!
