For anybody wanting some rad the weekend before this, there's now a Surrey Hills MTB ride too!

Epping was running nicely today - patches of mud here and there but in general pretty good fun.

Fifty miles all in on this beast, mostly on road riding there and back but hey it's all good.

What seatpost you got on there and how far is the layback? Looks awesome!

Layback looks pretty standard to me. It's the SAVE2 post that came with the bike; carbon post, alu hardware.

The frame I've got is a touch too small so I've got a Thomson Layback on the way, just looking for a potential alternative as the Thomson isn't exactly the most aesthetically pleasing!

Aston hill was scary!

It was also awesome fun and great experience, my mate let me try his big bike and I convinced him to try my 29, unfortunately be bailed and snapped the mech hanger :P these DH lot don't know how to pedal...

Had one small fall, some sketchy moments, fast and rooty descents, got a little bit of air and a lot of sideways on the chalk. I won't be bringing clipless there again, had my feet out of the pedals for a fair bit of each run.

It'll be slippery, so make sure you're confident in your ability to unclip quickly.

If not, then go with flats. This ride won't require 'maximum pedalling efficiency'.

For anyone getting impatient, there's a different Epping Forest ride happening this Sunday :-)
