I don't think he uses a power meter, I think he does it by feel, but keeps an eye on his HR and aims to keep this low (26.7kph average at 89bpm average, frightening).
The original plans (http://oneyeartimetrial.org.uk/the-preparation) had him do the longer days in the summer months (warmer and more daylight) so if he continues with the restarted attempt (from 8th August) then he'll be in great shape come June/July/August 2016 so, yes, I think he'll be pushing close to 300 miles/day then. He was planning on only having 6/7/8 hours off the bike a day in those months.
