Ah, didn't know 3 wasn't hydraulic. Arkose 2 is good, handled basically anything I've thrown at it.
You might want to factor in that the bars are pretty rubbish, especially for a bar end, I found they slope right to the end meaning the bar end feels miles away when you're on the hoods. Swapped the bars out for something with a finish horizontal to the floor and they're actually not too bad.
Definitely worth the improvement in braking, presumably they'd never get integrated hydraulic shifters at that price.

Both good but I'm prolly gonna get something from one of the big brands. Because discounts.
Saw a ROSE TEAM DX CROSS-3100 Di2 on the road today, I was impressed, not sure if this link works: http://www.rosebikes.com/bike/rose-team-dx-cross-3100-di2/aid:848825
Lots of nice touches, stick some larger road tyres on there with guards and you'd have your winter trainer.
(I've not bothered seeing if it has 'guard mounts btw).

I thought you wanted something between a CX and road .. Datum fits the bill. Boone although CX the geo isn't. There are plenty of pure CX offerings. Cielo? ;)

This is a great deal, but a touch over 1000. You can also get the 2015 105 with cable actuated hydro brakes for something like 800 if you shop around http://http://www.wiggle.co.uk/gt-grade-al-x-2015/?lang=en&curr=GBP&dest=1&sku=5360675618&ci_src=18615224&ci_sku=5360675618uk&utm_source=google&utm_term&utm_campaign=UK_PLA_Bikes&utm_medium=base&utm_content=s2BHqErGY_dm%7cpcrid%7c67090792382%7cpkw%7c%7cpmt%7c%7cprd%7c5360675618uk

Giant.
Based purely on the fact that is blows all the other big offerings away in terns of looks. There's a baby blue one in a local bike shop. Luckily for my credit card. In medium only.

Abet 2016 model, but the new Charge Plug look rather neat.
Steel is all great and wondrous, but noticeably heavier if you intend to go for a budget one.

I was just kidding!
Cielo is nice (but pricey etc.). Shame about IS mounts on superlight Red hydro flat mount brakes.
Have you considered Focus?
