wish the tubus fly had the proper mounts rather than the single that has to be bent into shape but it does look like the best option thanks all

I'd have a look at the Tubus Vega if I were you. Only about 40g heavier, has a 7kg extra load carrying capability ( 25kg vs 18kg ), allows you to set the panniers 10mm further back than the fly and also has twin struts to attach to your rack mounts.
