Because it looks like it measures too wide with that. Mechanic eyed it and said it would be too wide.
I've asked the mech to strip down the hub best he can. We're not sure what kind of old bearings system it has, because after removing freewheel and NDS cone/end the axle didn't fall out. So it may be sealed bearings or something weird.
On Monday I'll have a look in the bike shop.
