I have a rear that I might return, PM me if you want it and I'll let you know in a few days what I'm doing with it.

Set my alarm early this morning expecting there to be hordes of cyclists lining up outside my local Aldi (I worked at a Go Outdoors for a few months and every weekend there would be a queue of people waiting for the store to open, weekly discount voucher in hand for whatever we had on offer) but decided I hadn't had enough sleep so hit the snooze button. I popped in this evening instead and managed to get a yellow winter jersey for commuting, some winter gloves and loads of the £2.99 and £3.99 socks. I was hoping for some merino clothing too but they only seemed to have L and XL left, even M may have been a bit big for me.
They didn't have any mascarpone so I went to Tesco afterwards.

Got what I wanted but the L size leg warmers are a little to small. Hard to zip up.
Managed to get the last two XL merino tops however.

Turns out I picked up 1 men's and 1 women's merino top instead of 2 men's!
If anyone is able to pick me up a medium men's top I'd be much obliged, OKR has sold out. -

I forgot my bib shorts on a way to a ride so popped into Aldi for a pair. They split down the seems half way through the ride!

Banana split!

Are the bibs shit then?
I went down to the Fulford, York shop today (big meeting yesterday morning so couldn't get there on the way to work), and there is a TONNE of jackets left, but nothing merino based.

I've got two of the Crane bibs and are still going strong.

How are the pads? I could do with some tights.

They seem to support the junk ok...

Newbury Park still has an assortment of men's merino bottoms, as well as the odd top, and women's tops and bottoms.

Has anyone tried the tool kits? I'm interested in them for the cycle specific bits (I have enough scredrivers and allen keys) but know some cheap tools can be as soft as cheese and get chewed up after a few uses.

The £3.99 socks, are good!

I have one from a couple of years ago and I'm not sure if they're still the same or not.
I think they're well worth the money if there's enough in there you don't have. For me, it was worth it to get an 8mm hex key with a square bit to use with the Shimano BB tool, the BB tool itself and the external BB tool, cone spammers and a narrow chain tool for less than what you'd pay for one of those made by Park Tools. Some of the bits are still in use now.
However, some of the tools are a bit cheese-like. I snapped a couple of splines on the BB tool trying to remove a seized BB - though for normal use it should be fine. The chain whip also bent while removing a dodgy freewheel - but again, should be fine under normal pressure.
So I'd say it's worth it to have a good selection of average tools you don't already have, but probably not good enough if there are only one or two bits you need.

Also I got the last Deluxe rear light last week, plus a front for backup. I had a Moon Comet which I loved but which eventually broke, so I'm glad to get another without the price tag, and as a backup it should last more than a couple of years.

Hi, new here. Are the Aldi crane over trousers any good?
-
• #495
Got the gloves. X-large and they're still a bit tight.

I went to Aldi (Trafford) last night and it looks like I've missed all the good stuff. Can't even find any gloves in my size! If anyone comes across an Aldi selling premium lights/gloves/merino base layer in the Greater Manchester area, please let me know.
Also, going back to the very important question asked by @Scrabble has anyone tried the beer?

The "brasserie" little beer bottles are great so too is some of the "exquisite collection" wine - the Argentinian Malbec and the Italian Gavi are the only ones I've tried and I was impressed.
I got some of the merino base layers and they seem good for the price and just about long enough at the back.
The winter gloves look worth the money although I will be using them as spares.Think Aldi pips Lidl for quality at the moment.

Definitely agree on the brasserie! I just wanted to know whether anyone's tried the hefeweizen that was released around the same time as the cycling stuff.
-
• #499
Yeah, the 'exquisite collection' are decent. For £6, the Malbec is proper nice. I seem to think the Pinot Noir isn't bad either, I think we had to bug it once or twice as the Malbec bad sold out.

While we're on the topic, I'm a big fan of Lidl's Spanish Tarragona Gran Reserva
My mum got me some lights, thanks mum not dark!
