Try not to go too far and onto the M11. Top tip.

• #10979
I'll try.
3 10s ridden at my PB speed on the trot... I'm not sure this record is gonna fall...

I googled and it came up with a different version which went from Exning to Duxford and back.

Pampisford climb? Only in speed chasing TT world would that be considered a climb.
-
• #10982
if you manage to avoid getting stopped you can strip out accelerating from zero and the resulting o2 deficit, so a little easier than it sounds, but a tough ask all the same.
I'd really like to pull together a set of club records to have a crack at next year...

Anything that's not downhill feels like a climb in a TT.
Shit, I need bigger gears. I ran out of gears in the 50. Anyone know if DA9000 do >53T?
Yes, but where in the UK?

I thought you had a 55t single?
-
• #10986
I do, but I'm not going back to that setup in a hurry after the 24hr chainring failure. I still need to sort that out, maybe try another one. No idea why one ring worked and another didn't.

Looking good! Apart from the socks.

They're Brixton Cycles socks. Reprezent
(I presume you are referring to the calf guards.)

Some call him superman, some hippy. All we know is he's pretty slippy.
Slippy hippy.

• #10991
You've been hittin' the bottle again haven't you? :P
-
• #10992
Didn't you do a 12hr on these roads, hippy? I believe the Red Lodge turn is a bit weird, but I assume they'll have plenty of marshals.
The rise up to the A14 can be a bit of a leg breaker on the E2/25, but once at the top you've got a lovely 5 mile section to recover some lost time/speed. Shouldn't worry you too much though as it's very early on in the ride. Maybe don't overcook it here.

He can't remember where he rode last week, you can't expect him to remember roads he might have done on a 12hr.
-
• #10994
Yeah, that was like a 100 years ago man.
I'll study the turns but it helps to have signs/marshalls because I can get befuddled if I see another road I think is the turn.
I'll be keeping an eye on the powermeter but my legs were the limiter in the 50.

• #10995
Haha yeah this, totally.

Someone on TT forum said they'd done a 1:54 in Wales and a 1:04 in the 30, on the old course. So, it seems at least in the realm of possible to get the club 30 record on Sat. How best to spend this week though? So far, I've had a day off, sunk a load of beers and eaten cake. Today I rode to work and my face looks like someone has stretched some hide over a skull. Hmm... I know... intervals!

Keep the intensity, drop the volume
-
• #10998
Re: 30. Ride to 25 power, bury yourself for the last 5 miles?
-
• #10999
I'm going to increase the intensity and increase the volume first.
But if I can't get through tonights intervals I'll drop their length. Basically, I don't know until I start them.

I will likely start trying to sit just at or below threshold and the first few miles of this will let me know how my legs and CV is coping. If it's 'comfortable' I'll try and lift it. The finish always involves burying myself so no bother with that.
I had a gel and half a bottle during the 50. I wonder how much that cost me in aero vs. how much it gained me in energy/RPE reduction? I had to sit up a few times anyway because of my leg issue. Might be able to ride through it during the 30 but not sure.
Sat view has cleared it up a bit. Can now see the overpasses.
