  • from landrover forum it appears that either cutting a groove and using a screwdriver or spot welding a nut on are the best options, the bolts need to be removed whilst warm as they use a lot of threadlock as well.

  • 2012 Octavia, 1.6 something something greenline.

It's got the affected EA189 engine. The Euro 5 standard permits about 4 times as much NOx as the EPA standard, so it seems unlikely that they needed to cheat to get your Octavia to be EU legal. If you still want to reduce your NOx emissions, my previous comment applies - driver behaviour has a significant impact, NOx tends to rise with power so avoid high speeds and heavy acceleration.

  • Yeah that all makes sense. Cheers!

  • Few days old but...

I think this exactly what you aren't after but I have this:
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/profile-quill-to-threadless-stem-converter/
Which does indeed use an M6 bolt and top cap.

  • Found a Land Rover specialist who can remove the bolts for us. It was looking like a load of hassle. Land Rover fora all said its a PITA and either needs welding a nut on or angle grinding a slot but there is carpet which may go up in flames. Best to get a professional to do the work.

  • Need some wheels:

700c rims to run up to 35/37mm tyres.
    135mm OLD.
Rim braking surface for current bike.
    Disc hubs for next bike.
    9/10 speed Shimano cassette.

Best so far is SPA Cycles at £158+ £5P&P for Deore hubs with a choice of Rigida or Exal touring rims.

    Any other options?

  • Can you build your own? I reckon you could sort out a set of Mavic A319s for less than that.

  • That was going to be my next suggestion. Someone must break these vehicles and have a way of getting them out.

  • The current wheelset is one I built myself using Exal LX17 and M756 hubs; the rear needs a rebuild as it's breaking spokes within a few rides of replacing the previous broken spoke and retensioning.

Buying another as this is Emma's work bike and I'm too busy right now. I have no 135mm rim-brake spare wheels.

  • Are there any rides happening this coming Halloween weekend? Friday night perhaps?

  • Those security bolts are a right fuck. Cutting slots is hard work and you'll go through a fair few discs using a dremmel... My guess is they'll go the welded bolt option. Anyway hope you get it sorted.

  • Penguin mouse. From Posturite

  • The mechanic used an angle grinder to make the slots. Job done and we now have a load more space for our dogs

  • It's time I got some road pedals. I think I've decided on Keo. But which one? Keo 2 Max, Easy Plus, Classic 2, Flex? Anyone have any relatively objective opinions?

  • Easier to cut a flat side on both side to provide grip for a molegrip (a good one, not those tiny flimsy one).

    Failing that, spotty weld time.

  • Seems like he managed alright.

  • You could have a workplace assessment (assuming you are in a workplace where someone else supplies the equipment) if you feel very uncomfortable. The sort of problem you seem to be having should not be taken lightly, as you could develop RSI from it. As timmah!, hamrack, and dave4 have hinted, there is a great variety of mice you could try out. Your best bet is an assistive technology web-site like http://www.posturite.co.uk/ergonomic-mice-keyboards.html. Many of these offer trial periods (unlike the shops you've tried), such as 14 days at this one, so you might be able to find out how you get on with a device before keeping it. They're quite used to people returning things after a trial, so use that facility. Also, some universities have assistive technology centres, so if you ask very nicely you might be able to try something out there. Hope you find something that suits you--pretty much anything is better than a standard mouse.

  • I think I've decided on Keo.

Why? I've got Keos, but even I know SPD-R is basically better. Get a pair of PD-R550s

  • If you like a lot of tension, keo2max. If less, classics, or easys if you are new to clipless.
Although as tester says, shimanos are probably better.

  • And cheaper too, if you don't mind it's being heavier.

  • Partner bought a new car at the weekend.

Tax expires in a few days. The vendor sent all the registration documents to the dvla including the new owner slip. Dvla won't allow parter to tax it as she is not the registered owner but as we have notified them they are also not letting the previous owner tax it. They are saying we now have to wait 4-6 weeks for the registration to complete before we can tax it and we have to get it off the road in the meantime. Any suggestions as to how to get them to release the new keeper number so we can tax it?

    It's mouses.
