Neoprene only works in the wet and only providing they're dry when you put them on and have HOT hands when you put them on.
No joke, before leaving the house for work I used to heat up my hands over the hob so they'd be roasting when I put the gloves on. Then by the time I'd even started the ride I'd have a warm, insulating layer of sweat already working for me. But the smell, my god, the smell...
