Cheers! I did run a mildly tuned powervalve motor for a while but it was never as good as the earlier LC motor after some tinkering. The hillclimbing was definitely a steep learning curve. Arriving at the first corner with a warm rear tyre and a stone cold front tyre took some getting used to...

LC motors were always more fun just because of the power band. Mind you as long as you keep things wound up, there's not a lot of difference really.
Cold race Tyres can feel so horrible - the only ones I ever felt confident on were KR364 dunlops. I ran soft compound AM 20 roadrunners on my YPVS and they were comically squirmy when cold. Didn't crash much on them in fairness though.

in North East Scotland so cost a few hundred to get it down in a van - I would be all over this if I had the readies to hand -
1960 152l2 ,been refurbed, lml 150 5 port motor ,no test or tax, have date certificate with this engine number stating 125 cc,tidy scoot but no show winner, sold as project as not tested, would prefer if new owner had a look over it,any questions give me a text, looking to get close to 2 k but negotiable, all parts, engine ,hub, rack etc inc in sale
He's had it up a while so he'll probably take £1800 I reckon

Shame that it's got a new engine rather than original. Also a shame that someone thought that'd be a nice paint scheme...

I rode mine to work today and got the hump a bit. Idle screw needs a slight twist and I have to blip the throttle every few seconds at lights to keep it alive. Also need to give the throttle cable a slight nip-up. But left toolkit on windowsill in garage. Funny how little things can erode enjoyment of riding. That and freezing cold hands.

yeah paint is rotten - LML motor should be OK though - 5 port

• #6458
That has dodgy Vietnamese 'restoration' written all over it.
-
• #6459
Yeah, but you wouldn't want to modify something as original as that. Unless you were a total philistine.

• #6460
10 inch conversions always look wrong.
-
• #6461
That has dodgy Vietnamese 'restoration' written all over it.
knowing the guy I wouldn't have thought so - the motor at least will be sound - maybe not his paint resto, could have been done in the far east I guess

saw one of these today on the commute into work, and had to go online to figure out what it was.
looks better in the flesh on the move, than it does in that last photo. That silver plate thing on the side had me wondering what it's for and how it could be removed...

just spoken to the guy with the Vespa - it lay unused in a carpet shop for 40 years - it's an original British bike no rot to frame, solid everywhere, upgrade to forks and suspension
and then it got painted like that :/
-
• #6465
yeah - original paint on a 40 year old British registered bike would have been infinitly more valuable
-
• #6466
Mine is only 15 years old and has already been resprayed. Sometimes it does appear like a big, blank white canvas and it's tempting to do something silly with it.

my Lambretta had a sympathetic light resto in about 2000 (in Blanco Neuvo) - now its more like a rustoration - looks all the better for it

Copy of the t5 engine.
for £2200 you can a new LML vespa copy.
-
• #6469
yeah but a new LML ain't a 1960 150!
-
• #6470
Depends on how original things are...you can make a scooter look 1960 with remade parts.
-
• #6471
frame is everything
-
• #6472
Yeah, I've seen them. But I don't understand the point of buying a copy of a Vespa. Their heritage and badge are a big part of the charm.
If someone was knocking-out brand new Jaguar E Type replicas for £15,000 that had a different badge, I'd get it - but you can get a decent secondhand Vespa for the price of a new LML.

I fancy a scoot n had been looking at LMLs (and the AJS Vespa-like) but wondered if they'd be looked at by people with proper Vespas like we'd probably look at a Foffa/Create.
-
• #6474
they can be re-badged to look EXACTLY like a P range Vespa
-
• #6475
Now then, are they that bad?
So my gs scooter, should I stick to the 8 inch wheels or go to 10.
Or should I just stick to 8inch and alter the gearing, am sticking to the 125 head and barrel as 150 seems pricey.
Am stuck in a quandry.
