maybe valve extender is leaking?
Valve extenders can be a real @!#. Sometimes the only solution is to use some plumbers tape. Another thing I've seen is the value itself leaking.. for that a dab of grease typically solves the problem ...

My Schwalbe Ones lost no detectable pressure over a week.

Question is, why buy a tub that doesn't have a latex inner? Or rather, why aren't Schwalbe putting latex inners in their top-end tubs?
-

=I thought I was buying a pair of tubs with latex inners.

Question is, why buy a tub that doesn't have a latex inner? Or rather, why aren't Schwalbe putting latex inners in their top-end tubs?
All current Conti tubulars, save a few "one offs" in the ProLtd series (exclusively team issue to those few that absolutely demand latex), use butyl inner-tubes. According to Conti they found no advantage to Latex over using butyl but a number of disadvantages. The butyl tubes they use are really quite thin and special. Conti does a lot of testing and has worked quite close with elite cyclists over the years and...

Spose butyl is cheaper...

Spose Butyl is useful for triathlozengers who park their bikes in transition overnight?
-
• #1959
Yeah, Vittoria do tubs just for slvlss. But most of them are on clinchers.

I should probably correct myself - I want to use Latex for the race bike, but I'll have butyl (Sprinter Gator's) on the Serotta/training bike.

Vittoria have new versions of the corsa out with magical graphene that they claim lowers rolling resistance but 20%.
Any idea on how to ID these new versions?Looks like new tubs will be skinwall only. No mention of my beloved pave so looks like it might be replaced with 28mm version of the corsa.

Graphene definitely coming to pave.
It's coming to all their high tyres.I want skin wall corsa anyway. So there.

Can't even see pave on the Vittoria website...?

I swear I was reading about the coming range. Are there separate European sites.
Maybe I'm just getting senile.

Road tubeless at 200g?

Had my first puncture yesterday; stone made got stuck and made its way through. Wasn't too far from home, use Vittoria Pitstop which worked but I could see that air was still slowly escaping through. By the time I reached home the pressure was even lower and within about an hour almost zero. Now it looks like this.
Looks like the sealant is coming out of sidewalls (?). Time for a new tub or more sealant?

If you pump it up again it may hold air.
I've found Pitstop gets me home with top ups of air.
But is totally sealed the next day.If not I'd dump the tub. Looks pretty trashed.

I have a spare matching; it has only done about 1000 miles max .. Challenge Strada; rides really well, bought from Paligap ebay outlset for £28.
Might get Pave next time round. Need all round tyre.

^I've got Pave tubs, like riding through treacle. Just swapped to some 25's Corsa CX much much better.
^^^Agree that looks pretty trashed, I've binned one that split in a similar way, still seemed to hold air but didn't chance it. -

Ah ok .. so Pave is a no go? They have good rep in clincher version and come with latex inner. Hows puncture protection on Corsa CX? Or wait for Vittoria Graphene stuff?
I must admit the stone that was stuck might've been there before I started the ride and made its way through; I should inspect tyres :P
Is it a good idea to put sealant in the new one that I will install as soon as I install it and the front?
-

I think it all comes down to what works for you, I have had good and bad experiences of Pitstop- normally related to the age of the tyre to be fair (newer=better), however I've now come to the view that I'll dose the tyres with sealant before I leave the house and if it flats on a ride I'll change the tub rather than trying more sealant, pumping it up again etc.

I like my paves.
Not as nice as my challenge criterium.
But light considering the size and robust nature. So good mountain tyres.

Replacing a worn Schwalbe Ultremo HT that was stuck on using tub tape. there's a little tub tape residue on the rim. tried wiping diluted acetone (nail varnish remover) over it but it is still sticky. Tried peeling it off, but it took me 10 minutes to remove the residue between 2 spoke holes.
Can glue/cement be applied on this residue? Or should every trace of this residue be removed?
The actual tape has come off with the tyre, so it's literally just the residue that's on there...

I'm building up an early 90s ride and thinking of moving to tubs with a set of Wolber Profil 20 rims. I presume I'm ok to use modern tubs on older rims?
-
• #1975
Yeah, no problem with modern tubs
Do you have a set of profil 20s already? (I have a set I am not using and should really sell...)
Not deep dish, so don't have any on. Pretty sure I tightened the cores as Schwalbe are terrible for leaving them loose out of the factory. Meh we'll have to see!
