Going back to the ebay MBP issue...
Macbook Pros of any age seem to have logic board/GPU issues - it's hard to distinguish the two since the GPU is glued on I think. My old (2008?) MBP had its logic board replaced under the sale of goods act, and my 2012 RMBP had its logic board replaced last year under euro consumer law. And it seems to be failing again, the same kernel panics/Nvidea errors in the crash report.
