Yeah, I think Enigma ruled out the possibility of a new tube due to the problem of dealing with the carbon bits to fit it in - and thought a normal drill/weld solution wouldn't be strong enough to rely on given the size of the crack. They don't deal with carbon though - so I guess someone else who does (??) might be more comfortable with that type of suggestion.
To be honest though, I would have thought spending £££ to revive some 10 year old carbon might not be most prudent (or safe!) option.
