  • That's just maths

    Please show your working

  • Air + Air = Cush

  • Don't know the exact pressure it was at, but didn't feel low. Never knew exactly with the narrower rim either and never had such a problem. Just something for people to be aware of, user error is more likely.

  • Fair enough, I guess I noticed that because I was running slightly lower pressures than I had with a narrower rim. However, the point about damage to rims stands.

  • How are you more likely to hit a rim?

    Hitting things banked over?

  • Is there less space for the tyre to compress to protect the rim, as it is stretched wider and so not as high? On a narrower rim, the tyre if compressed, is wider than the rim so even if pressure down the rim is not exposed to that nasty curb.

  • Just seen in the tyre thread about the sidewalls being closer to the road too, maybe that played a part...

  • Yes, that was my pet theory too.

  • On a narrower rim, the tyre if compressed, is wider than the rim so even if pressure down the rim is not exposed to that nasty curb.

If your tyre is compressed enough for the rim the hit then the tyre would be wider than the rim (even if you were using 23mm tyres on a 24mm rim). And they'd be underinflated.

  • Let all the air out of your tyre. Does the rim sit on the ground?

  • No, but only the thinnest part of the tyre stops it, and not by much. Any rolling off centre and it would

  • Perhaps. The more-round tyre shape from wider rim should deform less but if it's really under inflated I suppose it's possible.

  • Bolted (rather than track nuts), low flange, black, 20/24 hole track hubs.

Cheap or spensive, not fussed on brand, must have all those features.

EDIT: I actually asked this question before, but if anyone can do better than these... http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/231522501549?

  • Cheapest place for Shamal dark label Shimano clincher? Not 2-way.

  • Bolted (rather than track nuts), low flange, black, 20/24 hole track hubs.

http://www.victoire-cycles.com/en/parts/hubs.html can meet your needs, about £250 for a pair

  • When ordering from superstar, do you get skewers included or not?
I checked QR adaptor and no skewer is in the box...

    I've asked.

  • When ordering from superstar, do you get skewers included or not?

    Not.

    PlanetX for cheap/light ti*

  • *mine haven't killed me yet.

  • No skewers.

  • OK.
My planet x skewers, the light ones, weren't tightenedt enough. I liked the wheel out of the dropout going up jackass lane.

Dented kinlin, led to new icons on elite 30s.

  • I stopped using them due to concerns about clamping power vs. my epic watts.

  • Dura Ace skewers. What's the question?

  • Dura Ace skewers. What's the question?

If the answer is DuraAce skewers, the question must be "How can I pay four times as much as necessary to get skewers as good as Ultegra?"

  • I have both, the 9,000 series skewers are a more fun design than the 6800.

  • If you buy cheap, what will be your next purchase?
