  • Hi all,

    Haven't posted in years!

I've got a Claud Butler racer that I'm open to offers on. The seatpost is jammed. I haven't tried a vice as I don't have access to one. It might be a good project for someone or someone might want the parts?

Alternatively if anyone has any good advice on getting the seatpost free I'll take that too.

    Cheers,

    Sam

  • What material is the frame/seat post? If it's an alloy post in a steel frame then caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) will dissolve the alloy and leave the steel. It'll ruin any paint it touches though so be careful. Pour it down from the BB shell, maybe cut the top off the post so you can safely pour it out (obviously you'll then need to block it when the solution is in there).

Your mileage may vary but it worked for me!
