I can only recommend CycleFit, that's where I went and I went there twice. Unfortunately they are out of your budget but I think it's worth it. Check them out.

I'm sure they're excellent but the basic fit is £250. Several recommendations a few pages back for http://www.racerrosabicycles.co.uk. Again, more than I can really afford to spend but not Cyclefit territory.

I know that's why I mentioned it was out of budget. Sorry.

Not a fan of the rutel fits. I've used Diego @ De rosa bikes in Bishop Stortford. If your after Retul go to Richard @ Freespeed. Pricey but its a name I always hear good things about.

I've had a Retul fit and it was ok, but not amazing. I've also had two bikes fitted in the non-machine way by Denver who currently works at De Ver cycles in Streatham, and he is a FUCKING WIZZARD WITH A DOUBLE Z. Their basic fits are £120, according to their website.

Very pleased with my fit with Simon at Cadence. My partner had one done as well and is equally pleased. It is Retul but didn't seem formulaic.

Thanks for the help and advice so far. @dancing james: I do completely agree about the fitter being the thing, not the process. Think I am going to go with Rosa in Stortford as they are rated here, and they offer a Selle saddle fitting service.

7 years and 69 pages later....a decision. Keep us updated...I think.

I'm not one to rush into things.

Better safe than sorry, however if it turns out to be a revelation to have a perfectly fitted bicycle, you may regret your indecision...

Do people get multiple fittings for multiple bikes / shoes? I had one done for my SPD-SL road bike a few years ago but have since changed a bunch of components on that bike and now predominantly ride a fixed gear bike with Egg Beaters. I've got my position as close to my bike fit measurements as I can, but I think maybe a separate fitting for that bike would make sense?

Why do you feel you now need to get a bike fit? What issues are you having?
-
• #1717
Getting a bit of knee tightness that I don't get on my road bike. It could just be down to pushing a heavier load though, as Egg Beaters give a bunch of float and I'm not getting back pain at all.

The egg beaters and the SPD-SL's might have a slightly different stack height. I'm talking mm's but to some riders that could be a lot. It just depends on you personally and how much you ride. Some guys can jump on anything and ride comfortably but for us unfortunate ones everything has to be dialled in precisely.

Oh yeah I have a wedge under my right SPD-SL cleat lol.

• #1720
Might be something to do with that :D

Look like it fit well.
Too small is better than too big, if that bike is one size too bigger, she'd be stretching on the hood.

Can vouch double for this. Need to call and get some advice..?

What difference in stem size does swapping from drops to risers have, if any? Can it even be simplified like that?

No difference whatsoever. You can have a 12cm stem with drops, and then go to a 50cm stem with risers and it will have zero effect. This is because
ryzrs = orsum

Depends very much on the width/rise/sweep of the bars. Swapping from drops to a flat bar, you could add anywhere between 1-3cm extra to your stem length.
It's best just to try a few cheap or borrowed stems first and see how you get on.
Ask your fitter how many fits they have done. Possibly Ronan at Pearson.
