  • lol. thanks for bringing that up

  • didn't see the second pages, look like you got even more clearance than before.

  • Btw, at 100psi, my 27c Open Pave, with Vittoria latex inner on Mavic A719 with 16mm Velox rim tape (maybe that makes a difference??), measures 27.2 on the front and 27.0mm on the rear.

  • Sound about right when first mounted, give it a couple weeks for the tyres to stretch and it'll be around 28-29mm max.

although 100psi is pretty high, unless you're pushing 100kg.

  • I am a big bloke around 100kg (would like it to be 90kgs). Normally I ride 80-100 psi on 25c depending on conditions.

  • Dave owns clever Mike and his dad is called Peter, they're both top blokes. As is everyone who works with Peter too, they've all been nothing but generous with their time and materials in my experience.

  • Had my first roll.. Such speed, much wow. Front mech needs some fine tuning. Rubbing occours in unwanted places...
Slamming is also going to happen, next time I go to Clever Mikes.

  • many sparkles

  • Thank you. Yes that was beyond all expected service. They are great.

  • Looks great.

Out of curiosity any reason for running the rear brake cable on top of the top tube, rather than on the lower drive side?

  • Thank you.
Yes there is. I find that cables running under the top tube are in the way when shouldering the bike and on the side of the top tube they are in the way when climbing. I have ruined nice bib shorts when out of the pedals. Was thinking about internal, but that would be extra work and annoying when doing cables. Plus this way I can use less housing and only have to buy new inners every other time needing fresh cables.

  • All makes sense.

  • I feel so grateful and happy. I love my new bike.

Thanks to everybody who helped out or gave advice.

I dig the wheels. Mavic A719/Shimano 105/Comp are heavy but fucking hell they roll nicely with the Open Pave/latex inner combo. Stiff and responsive. I rode 27c at 100 psi today. Tomorrow I will give 80-90 psi a go.

The frame is perfect... well not the finish (I still have much to learn), but the color, the geometry and the general choices made are.

I was really comfortable on todays ride, and I wont chop the steerer before I feel yoga has started to pay off.

Shimano 105 5800 is fucking brilliant. I am so happy that I didn't spend more on the groupset. You seriously get a lot for 300 gbp.

Specialized Roubaix bar tape is the best thing I have ridden yet. Soft and nice and easy to work with.

    Such a rush!

  • It's beautiful. I love it.

  • I rode 27c at 100 psi today. Tomorrow I will give 80-90 psi a go.

It's already at 90psi by the end of your ride.

  • I rode the bike from London to Dover this weekend.

  • nice one!

  • I'm very very envious, I've been forced to work all weekend

  • How've I missed this?! So good!

  • Bit late but I've filed a few brake calipers in the past. Never had one fail.

Also those Shimano long drop calipers you linked are a bit plasticy. The 650 is much nicer. Altough only in silver.

  • Missed this too. Gorgeous bike. Congrats.

  • Nicht schlecht Herr Specht.

  • Danke Schön.

I have had this mudguard setup running 27c for a month. I just switched to 23c as the scraping was too much. I think 25c would be fine, but I had 23c laying around... It is fine for Regents Park anyways..

  • Bit late for this, but it's the same brakes, the only difference is the shoes.
