Fitzrovia Cycles

Shall pop down today to have a spoke fitted to a beater wheel, hope all goes well.

Just wanted to formally rep Fitzrovia cycles. Every time I go in there I come out happy. Guys there are always welcoming and very down to earth. Big up basically

They are super lovely. Always helpful, always friendly and often have that weird, wonderful part that you've been just too lazy to order online. Couldn't ask for a better bike shop to be just round the corner from my office.

tl;dr - they well nice.

They cold-set my Roberts frame perfectly, service was really great. They do have some amazing frames in their shop and some great accessories too.

Agreed, Fitzrovia cycles was a great bike shop, I've used them loads and they were always excellent, sad times

That does suck. I don't mind Velorution, it just seems geared towards selling weird bicycles to architects.

Option A) an iconic bike shop ceases to exist or option B) is helped by another business to stay open in one form or another.

Unless they just put a Velorution store there. In which case it isn't the iconic bike shop any more at all

When they took over Mosquito in Islington they kept on some of the staff and some of the brands associated with the old store.

I just got an email from Velorution. I'd only ever emailed Fitzrovia. I find that annoying.

I never opted in to unsolicited emails from either company, which last time I checked is a breach of the Privacy Regs. They can't just harvest every email exchange that Fitzrovia had and make that their mailing list. I mean, they have, but legally they're not supposed to.

I think most companies just ignore that. I get unsolicited emails despite opting out/ not opting in.

I've unsubscribed. If I get more spam, I'll send a DPA request to expunge my details. Further spam and then I go full 'BT' on them.

I've been getting Velorution mails since they acquired Mosquito.

Shame about Fitzrovia, lovely shop and great people. I wonder if they'll still be there or if they got a solid pay-off at least. I haven't actually been back to Mosquito to find out if the old crew are still there.
