  • What would be more interesting than a mean, I would have thought, would be some sort of modal range.

  • Update - they're putting in speed bumps in 2016 - bollox

  • A petition has been started: Stop The Royal Parks using TFL cycling funds for anti-cycling infrastructure

If you could take a minute to sign/share and show your support for cycling in Regent's Park, that'd be much appreciated.

  • Interesting - so The Royal Parks (TRP) think they can build the platforms then send TFL the bill? Or are they saying they are going to do it anyway, with their own funds?

  • It's almost like my views are being represented... I could get used to this.

  • I think they are tying in their contribution, closing gates etc, to tfl's contribution, money for speed bumps.

Why are people so fucking wedded to speed bumps?

  • Signed,
    No. 1092,
so we still need a lot more signatures.

  • Why are people so fucking wedded to speed bumps?

I guess because it looks like you are doing something but in reality you are not.

I'd be all in for a 300m section of Belgian cobbles

  • Hah - Pave the whole outer circle.

  • Maybe a spot of Koksijde sand, too...

  • Did an hour there after work today for the first time in ages, it was basically empty. What a pleasure - would be a real shame to lose it.

    Petition signed

  • no. 1156!

  • 1157

  • Keep signing, sharing and setting up second emails to resign. Need to push this through.

The guy behind the majority of the campaign is planning to ride 500km around the park starting 5am on Saturday 3rd of October.

Not sure what the money is going towards.

  • Just out of curiosity, if they set up speed cameras rather than speed bumps (as per one of the suggestions) i.e. start enforcing the speed more rigorously, what will happen with cyclists exceeding the speed limit. I thought cyclists exceeding the speed limits was a bit of a grey legal area and the limits may be enforceable.

Genuinely thought - how will quitting my job help this situation?

  • @iltmimi I like the way you think. Great show of commitment to the cause. Enjoy your time off.

  • If it ain't broke don't fix it. If you ride to avoid dooring and don't RLJ I don't see the problem in RP. The only narrow road is on the southside. Plenty of crossings for pedestrians to use. It doesn't need a 20mph speed limit or traffic' calming.'

  • The problem is the cars doing 90mph through the speed traps they put up round the park - which is why they (the Royal Parks chaps) want speed bumps.

Cyclists riding wide and stopping at reds is not going to solve that, but then neither are speed bumps.

Pave, on the other hand, might well do. Not great for cycling mind.

  • Yeah that would be fun on an early morning in January.

  • Good excuse for an on-trend adventure road bike.

  • The Royal Parks proposed 14 'speed tables' with a cobbled top surface. So you may get a bit of that pave. Not dissimilar to the cobbled hump at the SE gate.
How they possibly think cobbled speed bumps are a good idea when the park is poorly lit is anyone's guess.
