Speaking of torque wrenches: What affordable torque wrench should I buy?
This looks like a bit of a faff: http://www.topeak.com/products/Homeshop-Tools/combotorq_bit_set

I got this one from Superstar for low-range work (was half-price at Crimbo).
You'll find the same wrench rebranded elsewhere, but the included bits varies.
I've got this for high-range work.
I can't remember where from, but around £25.
Both have certificates of calibration.
The Topeak works well enough for occasional use: I had one, but needed something more precise to use on other people's bikes.

I got the same one as the Superstar you listed but in a slightly cheaper case for $36. Took a while as I ordered it from China, but it works just fine. Not sure about its accuracy though, but I suspect it to be identical to the Superstar one.

Best cheap cheap cheap crankset, prefer all black. I guess SA would be my best bet, or is there something decent for less money?
-

I got one of these, came with a certificate of calibration, seems ok, range is sufficient for most bike stuff http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000RO1ZCG/ref=pe_385721_37986871_TE_item
You'll need a set of bits if you don't have one, it's a 3/8" square drive

Can't find information on the correct torque for the seatpost, is 5nm standard torque for carbon posts?
-
• #70687
Up to 5Nm, if it will hold at less then use less. I try 3.8Nm and work from there

I'm on my 4th year abusing privateers. My only bike shoes. No signs of backing down.
-
• #70689
Just tightened it to around 4 - 5nm...holy shit I would've gone at least twice as tight if I didn't use a torque wrench.
-
• #70690
This is why the torque wrench is essential when using plastic parts.

The reviewers seem to be enthusiastic, but surprised they're not more widely available.

Does anyone have an old Tektro lever they'd part with, so I can have the hinge bolt from it?
Or, failing that, a black RL720, left hand?
