Just calipers, rotors and bolts and mounts in the box unfortunately. So I'll have to pick some outers up elsewhere.

Thought you were going for the hylex(?) what changed you're mind?
Missus tried the levers; too big for her hands ..
-
• #129
Ah fair enough. So using her preferred levers with the spyres. Probably easier maintenance I reckon anyway. And stopping power on a 1x8 commuter is probably more than enough.

This would do right?

Probably need 3m?Edit:
Scratch that...
Gear cable... Search for brake cables and get gear cables... -

CRC sell Goodridge housing by the m, seems to be holding up on my 29er, probably better than the Jagwire stuff I've used previously.
-
• #132
Crap. Just spent £15 on 4m of jagwire keb-sl housing from Germany... I'm far too impatient.
-
• #133
Ha! The Goodridge stuff is only available in 'clear' and white at the moment anyway (if that helps at all...)
Jagwire stuff will be fine, still using it on my Straggler and Steamroller, just found it rubbed through the outer coating thing on the 29er when combined with grit and bags and stuff - shouldn't be an issue on a winter road bike :)

Sweet. I feel better.
Gonna buy some inline barrel adjusters now as well. Literally gonna have everything accept a frame... -
• #135
Any reason for the inline adjusters? Spyre have twiddly bits on the caliper... I've never needed to adjust brakes on the move and always figured inlines were just another way to end up grim gritty crap getting to the inners...
-
• #136
Ah sorry. I meant adjuster (singular). Makes the front mech set up a little easier. Bought some bar tape as well. Think that's everything now. Accept the frame set of course...

Something else I can purchase and have ready for the build... Mudguards...
Any suggestions? Fixed ones, not rubber band ones.

Sks chromoplastic or pdw.
-
• #139
I'd say SKS long boards

Just had an email from canyon about a sale and the inflite frameset is back in stock on sale. Would cost £500 in total. £50 cheaper than the genesis but with a seatpost and stem. Integrated mudguards are included I think. Alloy but it's a kilo lighter and cheaper. Eep
-
• #141
No dedicated rack mounts and 1 1/4 stem but apart from that looks good. Nothing this can't do that genesis can. Use the saved money on Pitlock stuff and carry just 1 lock.
-
• #142
Yeah, I can live with a bag in my back rather than on the bike. I just have to figure out the front mech mount. Looks like it's made for 1x11... Tapered seat tube and no braze on from the looks of it. Will call them.
-
• #143
You can mount racks without dedicated rack mounts.
Get a tubus fly.
-
• #144
Ah cool. Does that make the rear wheel a pain to get off? Haha. Just talking to canyon online about the front mech
-
• #145
This may take some time...

Ended up phoning the UK centre after the online chat guy just got more frustrating. The frameset is only for 1x setups unfortunately =[ there is some info online of people bodging it with clamp on mechs but it all sounds a bit shit. Ah well!
-
• #148
Isn't this a commuter? 1x is plenty then no?
-
• #149
Commuter / winter road bike. Wanna save the caad10 and ultegra for the nicer weather.

^...
Ah great, is there a not so budget option or is all the stuff the same?
Gonna borrow a dremel to cut the outer to length rather than use my bike cable cutters.
Thought you were going for the hylex(?) what changed you're mind?
