Power from Transcontinental race. If anyone want's a look.
I also emailed P2M about the power spikes I've been seeing, waiting for a response.

• #5753
I have files with spikes if you need more data to send.
-
• #5754
Ugh. I though p2m was supposed to be solid. Never got spikes with stages or powertap. Just saying...
-
• #5755
It is solid. The odd blip here and there isn't the end of the world. I'v had only one blip over the last 60hrs of usage. Was easy enough to delete the data point in GC.

• #5756
I have 5 spikes over 3 seasons use.
Meh.
I also blame garmin.
Because.
Garmin

• #5757
Yeah happy to get on board with that. Bloody Garmins.
-
• #5758
Yeah don't worry. They're still rock solid power meters.

I was only joking really.
Had to take my Cervelo to LBS to get the original Rotor cranks off the bike this weekend - could not get the second shimano cassette lock ring tool bolt off myself (what a stupid ssytem). Mechanic couldn't either, even after heating the cranks up a bit. Had kind of resigned myself to losing the cranks, but got the call today saying they had got them off okay. Relief. New cranks and P2M on and good to go.

Who's got wko4?
I got the trail to see what it's like and it's super slow and laggy.
I've got a 2.2 i7 10gig ram and 500gb ssd. So not a slow laptop.
-
• #5761
I ran the trial for two weeks with no issues. On a fairly quick imac with 8 gigs of ram.
Slow doing what?
-
• #5762
Just processing data, opening charts.
If i try and review last year as a whole it just lags for ages.

A mate, thats more into training data than me, has my TP account linked to his WKO4 account.
His data looks good, and it seems like a Nice tool if you want a bit more Depth.
But mine is odd. I additionally log running and swimming. Not sure if that confuses Things. But it has my FTP calculated to 360w. Currently its actually 280w. I do a shit load of 20min Climbs at, or near, max effort. So I always an idea of my current FTP. In my current fatigued state its 280w. With the right amount of rest it may be Close to 300w at most. Not sure whats going wrong to be honest.
-
• #5764
You should be able to set your FTP. I should be set based on testing.
-
• #5765
On the plus side, my mFTP is 364W. (right...)
Think I like wko4.
-
• #5766
"mFTP is the model-derived highest power a rider can maintain in a quasi-steady-state without fatiguing."
Uh huh.
More numbers? I'm out.
-
• #5767
Honestly, it's so slow. There has to be something wrong with it.
trying to flick between rides to find data spikes and it takes 5 seconds to load each ride to see if their is data spikes.
Shame it doesn't have a general data spike search like GC. -
• #5768
A mate of mine was also getting weird numbers for mFTP. He asked about it on TTF and Mr Coggan came along to help but not sure it helped much. I'll see if I can find the link.
-
• #5769
It was the mFTP I was talking about.
I shall Train to tested FTP, to aviod painful Death.
But use mFTP for Cock waving.

Not sure if it helps, but this is the thread: http://www.timetriallingforum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=102606&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1

I found the cause to my issues were some data spikes. I've now got a more normal looking mFTP curve, which agrees with what I though over the year. The figure now comes down to a more reasonable figure at the moment.
-

My FTP was 280w. My mFTP was 360w. After much cleaning and assistance from folk From TP. My spikes are gone and my mFTP is 292w.
I actually feel that after my rest period I should have an extra 12w in my legs.
Nice of WKO4 to save me gurning in agony for 20mins to find out though.

Bastards!

Yeah even a few small data spikes seem to send mFTP haywire.
You can create a chart to find data spike, FYI anyone else.I think mFTP seems pretty accurate. Though i don't think it's right for me right now (due to the type of riding I've done in the last month), I've had a lot of time off the bike and it still thinks I can do 350 for an hour. Which is a big lie.

@xavierdisley what's your opinion on mFTP? Guess you've plugged a good few of your riders into it now.
I reckon mine is skewed by having a big 5min power. Something that doesn't translate out on the duration scale as I'm underdeveloped.
I did try to - but Garmin didn't want to play with the cadence sensor for some reason and I didn't want to get off and start mucking about with the bike in the middle of the session.
