    The reason it's useful to specify your locking method is because it helps other people understand the relative risk of each method / equipment choice.

    It's not so really so that we can all say "LOL YOU DIDN'T EVEN LOCK IT?! HAHAHAHA FFS".

    Besides, if it was taken from, say, your house (during a break-in, for e.g.), where it's unlikely to have been locked, does that make it any less of a theft?

  • I think you misunderstood me. I was agreeing with @606. I wish everyone would say if/how it was locked, for exactly the reason you mentioned.

    My own opinion is still that if you leave your bike unlocked, unattended, then you have made a conscious decision to dramatically increase the chances of it being stolen (taken).
