Unlike this year, the HT550 group start in 2015 is not going to be a first come, first served basis. There will be qualifying routes which you will have need to have done at least one of, the first of which will be the HT550 itself (an ITT will count if you have proof). Finishers from the last two years will have a guaranteed place. Other routes will be the CTR, AZTR or similar events overseas. Cairngorms Loop and Lakeland 200 will also be on the list.

Have you got a link for that. I'm getting interested in giving this a go and think I might be missing something.

Ah, handily not on the actually HT550 page. Thanks, will consider my plans then.

Thanks for the heads up.
Need to see about doing a qualifying ride. But tbh don't know if I'll have time or will to do so.
It's a free roads though so no harm in turning up and doing a diy at the same time, though some might find that rude. I may end up just doing an ITT though tbh At a similar time to the event. Need to sort a bike still before I can consider it.@bananaskid I will ride the tour decide in the future but a few years yet. I just want to have some mtb fun and get some experience. I rode mtb and dirt jump as a kit so it's not new skills, just different fun. Tcr 2016 will be a main goal, and I think I can for a few other things around it.

A few people set off the day before the group start this year, that didn't seem to be a problem

Just emailed the organiser and he's confirmed that the more you've done, the more likely it is that you'll get a place. I've not done a lot yet and no MTBing in a while so may not go for it this year. There's a couple of big routes starting from near my house so I'm going get cracking on those.

I'm not that happy with the new S5 chamois in Assos shorts. Think I prefer the F1.Mille pad.
Has anyone done a shitload of miles in the Castelli Progetto X2 Seat Pad?

I did Tour Divide as a qualifier for the HT550 2016.

Cross UK record. One to beat?
-
• #263
Place to place seems more fun. That seems a bit of a make a record up to get a record.
LEJOG-JOGLE really appeals to me.

Too hard to organise RRA records and need a huge tailwind to get it.
-
• #265
I figured there'd already be a c2c record?

There's lots of cross country records. I wonder if Guinness do cross UK?
-
• #267
Cross country is cool in the USA or RUSSA. But in the UK? It's not far really.
Yeah RRA are a joke, from what I've read and what you've said. Think they'll die off in a few years, judging but the date on most records. They've sold themselves out of the market.

Best record I've seen in a while. Awesome.

It's 360 miles. Records don't have to be long to be records. It's still a long time on a bike and across USA is a tour not a record.

• #270
Ha! Fuck that.

• #271
Yeah! Awesome huh.

@hippy we need to talk LEJOG routes.
I'm interested in LEJOGLE after the fact in the past few months 3 people have tried and failed.

EDIT: I mean, how can I butter you up to share route advice with me!?

• #274
What's the deal with people riding with you? How is that legal?
-
• #275
It's not. Which is why it's not a record yet because no one has done it under record conditions.
@skinny is that going to be prep for a future Tour Divide? Are you going back for TCR seconds next year?
I need to find myself a race for next year (perhaps TCR) but I'm not ready to go off-road yet, any suggestions?
