I can't bear to take photos of it yet.
I'm going to ask Planet X if they have any old style decals :(

You could try cutting out the chainstay bridge?
-
• #5180
Oh...???
Any other ideas? Please? -
• #5181
Sorry that was a bad joke - see a few pages back with images of people suffering catastrophic frame fail from cutting out the chainstay bridge. Jokes are confirmed bad when you have to explain them. I have nothing useful to add on this topic.

Dolan says the two versions of the SG75 BB are both 109mm, Symmetrical
http://www.dolan-bikes.com/sugino-sg75-std-109mm-bottom-bracket.htmlJenson lists the SG75 crank as ISO, with a 109mm spindle length:
http://www.jensonusa.com/!TJ6Pk3dlamgJ-Cq-ams4pQ!/Square-Taper/Bottom-Brackets/Sugino-Black-Track-SG75-CrankChicken says:
Unique taper is not interchangeable with Shimano.
http://www.chickencycles.co.uk/index.php?cat=7&sub=107
Which I guess means ISO not JIS.What's the clearance like on the other side?
Did you get the BB shell faced?
Is the frame new and/or straight? -
• #5184
Sure, I was just convincing myself that there should be more space with the Centaur than there would be with the matching BB.
-
• #5185
Sounds like the situation you'd expect with a JIS crank on an ISO spindle - resulting in the crank being ~4.5mm closer - but then they're both ISO so that's odd.
If it was an Italian BB I'd say you'd put the cups in the wrong way around, but that's not true either, so I'm clutching at straws...
-
• #5186
they're both ISO so that's odd.
Have SG75s always been ISO?
-
• #5187
The SG75 are NJS approved aka Campagnolo thread/sizes so have always been ISO as far as I know.

JIS crank on an ISO spindle - resulting in the crank being ~4.5mm closer
Stop quoting the one thing which Sheldon Brown got wrong. The true difference is about 1mm per side
-
• #5189
Ah, ok - even if you had to explain it to me, it's a good joke :)
-
• #5190
Frame is new.
Other side it is almost the same.Seems the only thing I could do, is to try the next longer BB axle? The Campa Centaur comes in a 115,5mm version, too. Maybe I should give it a try? But I'm not sure if the chainline will still work...
I've seen that OnOne sell their complete Pompino Builds with a Stronglight Track 2000 crank in combination with a 113mm long BB - even if the Stronglight crank needs a 107mm BB.
http://planetx.co.uk/i/q/CBOOPOMPKOJ/on-one-pompino-drop-bar-urban-bike
So maybe there's the same problem with the Stronglight as I have with the SG75? -
• #5191
Or does anybody here have installed a Stronglight crank with 170mm crankarms in combination with a 107mm bb on his Pompino and can tell me if it goes together well?
-
• #5192
So maybe there's the same problem
The "problem" is that On-One have generally prioritised tyre clearance over crank clearance on the Pompino to suit the target market. Most double road cranks should work fine (Q-factor will be about 5mm more than S75 on 111mm BB), and the chainline will be similar to Sugino 75 if you use the inner ring.

Saw someone carrying a brand new Pompetamine frame at Brixton train station this morning. Looked like he'd taken it to the shop for BB and headset fitting. Anyone from on here?
-
• #5194
You didn't recognise me?
-
• #5195
Thought it might have been, but everyone looks different in civvies. Hi!
-
• #5196
Are they selling pompetamines again now?
-
• #5197
They had a few for sale 3 months or so ago.
-
• #5198
Ah, I must have missed that.
-
• #5199
New biek, needs some tweaking -
• #5200
co-worker of mine called them, they said that the pompetemine is discontinued...
I'm just about to build up my Pompino.
Problem is: My Sugino SG75 crank doesn't fit, the crankarms (170mm) touch the frame.
Bottom bracket is a Campagnolo Centaur 111mm.
Is anybody else riding a SG75 on his Pompino? Which bottom bracket do you use?
