I think a new bike for 2016 - I'll be (shudders) 40.
I may use that as an excuse to pull a few stops out.

This should be out of the jig soon. All brazed up so im told. I just need to decide weather to stick with the old school wishbone, or go with the new style pencil one.

• #485
are you going to have him revise the design for wireless?
-
• #486
Get the old style one. Definitely.
-
• #487
Old style
-
• #488
thats what i'm leaning towards. I think the massive Spirit HSS downtube will make the pencil stays look a bit funny.

Fraid not. Maybe Mk3 will be wireless.
It has these new style wire ports which have changeable inserts to take all types of cables/wires. Kinda like this:
Rear mech wire comes out of the hooded dropout like this:

I think new style, because a) they're better (less material, lighter, more efficient) and b) the contrast between the major tubes (headtube, downtube. chainstays) and the minor tubes (as it were) is part of the visual identity.

This isnt a weight wennie bike, so the difference in weight isnt an issue. The main reasons for choice will be aesthetics, and for me, the old style wins when using massive tubes for the main triangle. Matt said hes gonna send me a few photos of mock ups to look at, so we'll see.

• #492
It'll look well weird if you do that.
-
• #493
MAX top tube I thought?
-
• #494
TT is same as last time. the weird twisty one. Is that MAX?
-
• #495
Yeah, thats my point.
-
• #496

Non-plussed by this, it's like Helen Keller trying to mock me for wearing glasses.
